ALPS System Fails To Remove All Contamination As Planned

Testing of the ALPS decontamination system at Fukushima Daiichi has failed a critical test of the filtration system. Minyu-Net is reporting that small amounts of iodine 129 and cobalt remained after processing the water through ALPS. TEPCO has reported this to the NRA and is looking to see if an adjustment in the system could improve the removal performance.

Iodine 129 has a half life of 15.7 million years so removal is critical.
