**UPDATE** About 10:15 am US NRC confirms Waterford has offsite power and it out of unusual event status. No details of how they have reactivated offsite power, or the source of that electricity.
Entergy claimed Wednesday morning that they had restored offsite power to Waterford 3 nuclear power plant. Entergy’s outage map for the area around Waterford didn’t show any restoration of power or activation of the lines that run along the river. The announcement didn’t mention where they might be receiving power from. The only known available generation sources in the region are in Baton Rouge and a gas generation plant in New Orleans that was restarted to deliver power to a small portion of east New Orleans. The NRC has not announced any status change for the plant as of this morning.
At this point we can’t confirm Waterford is actually on grid power or has exited the unusual event status.
There has been no clarification of the systems, equipment or critical buildings that have sustained damage at Waterford. Entergy cited yesterday that there was no damage to the central reactor area. Areas of concern outside the central reactor area are the switch yard, the water intakes and intake pump buildings. These impact the ability to send or receive grid power at the plant, and in the case of the intakes, to cool the reactor.

River levels near Waterford continue to be within ranges that are not a major cause for concern. The river level went back up by a foot this morning but is still down from the peak during the hurricane.
