A group of 300 anti-nuclear protesters in New York City carried a banner expressing their solidarity with Japan. On the five month anniversary of the quake and tsunami they offered a silent prayer.
Another group staged a bicycle ride, street protests and a boat protest. The group reminded people of the extreme risk the ancient Indian Point nuclear power plant poses to the city. There is considerable resistance to Indian Point having the license renewed. The governor of New York wants it shut down. Yet the people are fighting an uphill battle against Entergy and the NRC.
