Stronium & Plutonium Found In Government Survey
[Translate] Stronium 90 and Plutonium 238 & 239 have been found around the region of the Fukushima Daiichi accident. Some of the stronium 90 findings were over 80km from the plant and 5,700 becquerels per square meter were found in Futuba. Officials claimed the plutonium found was likely from previous nuclear bomb tests but the stronium 90 levels were much higher than before the accident. The red marks are Stronium 90, the black marks Plutonium, on the map to the left. Government Admits Plutonium Found 45km From Fukushima Daiichi In June
[Translate] The Ministry of Education and Science has admitted they found plutonium up to 45km away from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in June. No reason was given for why they waited until the end of September to make the admission. The ministry claimed the numbers were small, but plutonium is highly toxic and has a long half life. Citizen testing has already found neptunium, the predecessor product to plutonium up to 60 km away from the plant, so this news isn’t new. So far plutonium and neptunium have been found in the following cities: Futaba-machi Namie-machi Iitate-mura Date City Professor Shinya Nagasaki University Graduate School of Tokyo said it is not impossible for plutonium to travel that far if it is taken up into the weather. Scottish Nuclear Plant Sea Contamination Impossible To Completely Decontaminate
[Translate] The Dounreay nuclear plant on the coast of northern Scotland leaked radiation into the sea and coastline for twenty years. Fuel fragments were disbursed up to 2 km from the plant over those years. “The most radioactive of the particles are regarded by experts as potentially lethal if ingested. Similar in size to grains of sand, they contain caesium-137, which has a half-life of 30 years, but they can also incorporate traces of plutonium-239, which has a half-life of over 24,000 years – meaning that is the time period for half of the material to break down”.
