The Economist is urging the government of Japan to nationalize TEPCO quickly. Among the concerns were that the same management is still in place that was there in the preceding years that led up to the crisis. The state may be more capable of plant oversight that TEPCO has been failing at, as corner cutting at the plant has become known, issues of worker safety are again becoming a major concern. They also thought it would help restore some public confidence that the government is capable of policing the nuclear industry.
