The formal/conventional channels of information (pressers, announcements, briefings, etc) are starting to become stale deadbeats. We may have to keep sniffing out alternative yet credible sources (industry, technology, academe, middle mgmt moles that tap into the heart of Tepco) to keep the spark of meaningful information exchange alive. It's time to make it worthwhile to be a true-blue whistleblower. Dig into dirt to find the truffles if we have to.

@Diane maybe if we look at that space between individual that extra cellular matrix that connects every living organism we can collectively effect changes, were doing it right now with every choice we make. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. This lake is less than 70 miles from my front door maybe that has an effect on my perspective. planetoddity.com

@Bobby1: most conflicted time of my life because I loved the rockies, was really weird to see a mountain ripped down and a fake mountain go up next to it minus the coal with astroterf, spray painted greenery. The day I saw Elk feeding on it was what made me quit. Even with no job to go to, was better than that feeling in my gut.

english.kyodonews.jp Radiation in the basement of #2 is > 1000 mSV /hour (2000, 3000, more?). Radiation in #3 is 400 mSv /hour. If the limit is 250 mSv / worker. That means each worker MAX can be in #2 15 minutes, and #3 38 minutes. I highly doubt they are adhering to these limits.

@Diane - We are not stuck as a civilization. At least, we don't have to be. All we have to do is to face up to some realities and start employing existing technologies in a much smarter way. A lot of it you can do yourself. For example, we found it easy to bring our electric power use down to 20% of the national average (per person in a household). We also found it financially attractive to invest in a solar PV system. It generates four times more power than we need ourselves. It helps to even out local grid load. It gives an excellent return on investment. Next step is an electric car. Energy independency at the household level is eminently possible. But also at the community level things are not at all bleak. Several towns in our area are investing in wind power and very soon will be largely self-sufficient in electric power. All this can be done. Don't let anyone tell you that it can't.

I see the future of the American police state as one in which our government uses technology to track us in a system from which we cannot escape except to live without any of the world's modern conveniences. Solar PV is not cost effective yet, not even close. Last week I finished a complete PV system for our RV. 5k and we still can't run the A/C. Three cloudy days and we will be without lights. It's an expensive luxury, unfortunately.
