[Umm, @Peter, if I recall this correctly, the timestamp is relative for each user's browser, depending on which GMT time zone he or she is at. - Alblee]

I think the only known shipments we are not totally sure about is the one to Kashiwazaki and possibly some from the Takahama shipments. If you find new info either post it here or add it in the comments on the page so we can update the page.

  • @fitter, I am still on my vent quest and found different styles on the turbine building. Some end in knees as you mentioned (to prevent the bird tarts falling in perhaps). Others end straight. I wonder what function rules the difference in design. In another line of observation, anybody notice the building on the right in the background? It houses some sort of a transformer station. Something huge must have hit its front gates. I always wondered what that was. cryptome.org

  • @elainekirk , for that it sits too high on the hill. A projectile hit it.
by Peter Melzer 6/9/2011 5:03:11 PM

  • @Peter Melzer Water perhaps? One of the effects that was noticed in the tsunami was that, unlike what you'd expect, when a 15 meter tsunami-pushed wave comes up against a hillside (like that one there) it doesn't wash up against it and stop. It rides up it as a 15 meter high but rapidly diminishing pulse. Perhaps still high enough by the top of that crest to knock a big door off it's tracks.

  • Electrical Fire Knocks Out Spent Fuel Cooling at Nebraska Nuke Plant
A fire in an electrical switch room on Tuesday briefly knocked out cooling for a pool holding spent nuclear fuel at the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant outside Omaha, Neb., plant officials said.

Officials at Fort Calhoun said the situation at their plant came nowhere near to Fukushima's. They said it would have taken 88 hours for the heat produced by the fuel to boil away the cooling water.

Workers restored cooling in about 90 minutes, and plant officials said the temperature in the pool only increased by two degrees.

The fire, reported at 9:30 a.m., led to the loss of electrical power for the system that circulates cooling water through the spent fuel pool, according to a report from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. A chemical fire suppression system discharged, and the plant's fire brigade cleared smoke from the room and reported that the fire was out at 10:20 a.m., the NRC said.

  • Greenpeace Activists Delay Dutch Nuclear Waste Train
A train carrying nuclear waste from a nuclear power plant in Netherlands to France for reprocessing was delayed by almost three hours on Tuesday after dozens of Dutch Greenpeace activists attempted to block the train by chaining themselves to the rail track.

Police said the train resumed its journey and crossed over the border into Belgium after they arrested and removed some 33 activists attempting the block the train from leaving Borssele in the Dutch province of Zeeland.

While most of the activists who had chained themselves to the tracks were removed by cutting the chains using saws, in some cases the police were forced to use blow torches to free them from the tracks.
