    by elainekirk 7/7/2011 11:51:05 PM

  • @Ian that yellow cap is on top of rubble???
    by elainekirk 7/7/2011 11:52:56 PM

  • @Elanie, do you mean laying across the panel? What's to its right I think is a air-conditioner. Sekimura's presentation show the vents, and possibly the long object is a vent channel. The yellow cap in the T-Hawk video is resting on the service bay floor, I believe, or on some device designed for it to rest on.
    by Ian 7/8/2011 12:15:18 AM

  • @Ian and is this more of the same type of vent outside

    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:16:11 AM

  • @Ian sorry I uploaded before I saw your reply
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:17:14 AM

  • Notice how shattered Unit 4 is in the T-Hawk video www.youtube.com and yet how pristine the assemblies are in its fuel pool www.youtube.com The DoE report says it would take 10 days to boil off SFP4, and Unit 4 blew 4 days post-blackout, so about 60% of the water should have been in the pool (provided none was lost by means other than evap). I think the evidence indicates that the assemblies were not exposed to air and thus there was no Zr hydrogen of cladding fire, and this weighs theory toward Unit-3 gas injection. Radiolysis would also not account as well for the blow out of the lower floor.

  • the 'rest' on the left appears to hold a few bolts up but the 'rest' on the right is only holding two bolts up those bolts seem very untidy

    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:25:27 AM

  • @elainekirk, dean, lillymunster, I was listening earlier to the discussion with RBeaner about the fuel rods. This was where I saw it reported in March. www.physicsforums.com NRC Report, Official Use Only, Fukushima Assessment, March 26th, 2011
    last paragraph page 13
    by cat 7/8/2011 12:26:31 AM

  • It said parts of fuel rods found by #2, and up to a mile away. Bulldozed under.
    by cat 7/8/2011 12:30:32 AM

  • pdf link for the NRC report i.min.us
    by lillymunster 7/8/2011 12:31:31 AM

  • @lillymunster is it lotsa writing?@cat great find ty
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:32:22 AM

  • @cat, the link at physicsforum took me to the wrong NY Time report, I googled it down here : www.nytimes.com "Broken pieces of fuel rods have been found outside of Reactor No. 2, and are now being covered with bulldozers, he said. The pieces may be from rods in the spent-fuel pools that were flung out by hydrogen explosions."
    by Ian 7/8/2011 12:32:25 AM

  • greetings to all... hope the day went well
    by dean 7/8/2011 12:32:57 AM

  • @Ian Oh I wish we had something, pictures, detailed descriptions, something. What kind of pieces. The NRC doc isn't any clearer.
    by lillymunster 7/8/2011 12:33:24 AM

  • @dean hi :)
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:36:59 AM

  • Good morning gang
    by bo 7/8/2011 12:39:34 AM

  • morning bo.. well this morning I thought I was a hero and found something.. but today I don't think my find has been holding up much.. sigh
    by dean 7/8/2011 12:40:39 AM

  • I thought by now bo would be asked to go live on CNN he he.. .
    by dean 7/8/2011 12:41:03 AM

  • hi elaine:) lilly)
    by dean 7/8/2011 12:41:45 AM

  • @lilly, and on what side of U2? The source for this is an "western nuclear executive western nuclear executive ... who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect business connections in Japan." The worst kinda source. :(
    by Ian 7/8/2011 12:42:41 AM

  • @dean are you saying our rods were not good :(
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:43:22 AM

  • @dean surely heroism is in large part realism. Applying the critical thinking necessary to find these things, and then to analyze them (alone or as a group) is real, non-delusional, heroism. I stand by my applause of your efforts. (Also, less people watch CNN than this scrib!)
    by bo 7/8/2011 12:43:29 AM

  • @bo I loke what you say very much :)
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:44:45 AM

  • Me loke it too. :) Hay bo!
    by Ian 7/8/2011 12:45:30 AM

  • ha ha good point bo.. I take my bow to the crowd and charge on for the next find
    by dean 7/8/2011 12:46:49 AM

  • @lillymunster have you got one of those pics the one where I stick my tongue out at Ian?
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:46:57 AM

  • @elainekirk I will have my friends look at the article regarding the doctor that you posted earlier.
    by bo 7/8/2011 12:47:31 AM

    by dean 7/8/2011 12:47:37 AM

  • @bo thankyou :) @dean it is from www.youtube.com
    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 12:48:26 AM

  • @elaine, like this? www.snagablog.com

by lillymunster via Snagablog 7/8/2011 12:50:03 AM

  • Hay, and I'm the Typo King! :)
    by Ian 7/8/2011 12:52:40 AM

  • @cat The NRC assesment says "fuel Particulates may have been ejected...", it doesn't say rods. The NY times article cites anonymous executive saying fuel rods. Maybe some fuel rods were ejected, but I haven't seen any evidence. TY for the NRC Assesment link.
    by RBeaner 7/8/2011 12:52:43 AM

    by elainekirk 7/8/2011 1:01:48 AM

  • Daini cooling at 1 reactor shut down for 3.5 hr, then restored... not associated with stress tests. www.marketwatch.com Seems to be some confusion from the wording of this article www3.nhk.or.jp
    by RBeaner 7/8/2011 1:01:55 AM

  • well hope this works,,, it's the nuclear disaster crystal ball
