  • @wrshpr I'm sure he's rubbed off, it's inevitable. But my hobby has been debunking his insanity. ;-) Speaking of insanity, just checked beta levels reported by EPA in Orlando. Interestingly, they stopped measuring on the 19th of March. Or stopped reporting, rather. However gamma levels are available. www.epa.gov

    on April 13, we stopped transferring accumulated water to check whether
    there was water leakage from condenser or not. We didn't find any problem,
    so we restarted transferring at 15:02PM of the same day. At 17:04PM, the
    scheduled transfer was completed.

Without implementing the Emergency Action, the US wouldn't even have the Initial Responce Team on site.

  • I am out of my depth here, but are not condensers made to hold water and steam, not just water? If the structure is weakened, I wonder what could happen if it is filled completely with water.

  • @Rob Interesting! The gamma spikes in range 9 could correlate to that. The measured flux in the chart you posted doesn't seem to be rising as quickly as the sunspot activity. Maybe we'll see a spike in today's flux and gamma 9 range measurements.

  • A condenser is where you cool steam (or any vapor)to make it water(liquid) again. It is not built to be completely full of liquids.

  • @Ralph Steam is usually under pressure, so in general would create more stress on a container than liquid without pressure.

  • Yep, everything looks like it is under control to me though, a slow lowering of radioactivity levels that I hope continues. But it is far from under control and there are many ways it could get bad again. Even at these levels, I agree with those who rate it as a 7.

  • @NHK Listener - That limit is based upon perfect construction with no stress-induced weaknesses. It'd be foolhardy to allow it to come close at this point, but I do agree it's a long ways off from being dangerous.
