@inCalifornia I think everyone is taking a break from the insanity.

Been silent for a while, as you can see
by bo 5/16/2011 5:31:59 AM

Its quiet time on the news board I Think............there isnt any new news around.............But there is fun and games on the other board!
by Angie 5/16/2011 5:32:16 AM

have you had a look back through the pages? There was lots of talk before on the situation. I dont think we will be shut down.............lol
by Angie 5/16/2011 5:34:48 AM

There is some speculation that the TEPCO leak on Sunday (here) which said that #2 and #3 had also suffered similar core damage as #1 may be a prelude to revealing that #2 and #3 have also fully melted. No certainty, but why the leak? And the Japanese use of phrases like "similar to" often mean are the same.
by bo 5/16/2011 5:40:42 AM

Yes is does appear to look that way which is very scary for the people that were still in the area. @Bo Have you heard anything about the response from the people in regard to the new Tepco announcement?
by Angie 5/16/2011 5:41:09 AM

I can also report that a Japanese friend of mine here said that the news here is full of stories about the fact that #1 fully melted, and the sense that TEPCO has been hiding information, but he told me that most people are feeling fortunate that the contamination "has not been worse" and are cautiously waiting to see what data on that emerges. Of course we know about the cesium contamination, which hasn't really made the news in a big way here yet.

They are very brave and stoic people! I am amazed at how well they have handled the situation. I have to go for a bit my sister has decided to visit! You on for a while Bo?
by Angie 5/16/2011 5:46:24 AM

Yup. See you later @Angie.
by bo 5/16/2011 5:47:27 AM

@bo Awesome see you in a few hours or sooner! lol
by Angie 5/16/2011 5:47:57 AM

@inCalifornia well I sure didn't. There is of course the Japanese nuclear scientist who was an advisor to Kan and he resigned saying that he believed that 1-2-3 had all completely melted.
by bo 5/16/2011 6:04:03 AM

Yes, I know they are considered unreliable. In hindsight the dates seem right, but it is also a bit crazy that reporters would be briefed on this and not be able to publish directly, but only on this blog.
by bo 5/16/2011 6:13:01 AM

@inCalifornia a lot of people were saying they were already melted down during the first two weeks. Any journalist with actual information would have done more than post on a blog known for comspiratorial hijinks. My two yen
by bo 5/16/2011 6:21:19 AM

@wtm that seems almost certain now. I agree. So now it is all about the corium.
by bo 5/16/2011 6:21:39 AM

@LM good night. Ha! Thanks for the humor. I have a "nuclear" family too.
by bo 5/16/2011 6:29:34 AM

@wtm forgive my lack on knowledge, but why won't the injected water cause an explosion?
by bo 5/16/2011 6:30:28 AM

@wtm Oy. Thanks.
by bo 5/16/2011 6:39:51 AM

@wtm sounds like a loose/loose scenario for a debate!
by bo 5/16/2011 6:54:24 AM

@wtm wow. Vivid image. Thanks. I had been using the car balanced half off of the cliff but not yet fallen over. No tires on the ground yet. But that image implies the possibility of recovery. A false hope obviously. With your permission (and credit) I will use yours from now on.
by bo 5/16/2011 7:08:19 AM

On another, safer note, is there another mod on? I have to go from work to home and will be gone for about 45 minutes.
by bo 5/16/2011 7:10:28 AM

Oy. Thanks @wtm, be back on in a bit. Might have to pour a drink and think about these.
