Here it comes to save the day!!! Or a few gallons...

by Rob in SF via Tepco.co.jp 5/16/2011 1:06:39 AM

  • @UK val watch close I think it's fire and not just i reactor. Really hard to tell but moves like flames not sunlight.
    by ch 5/16/2011 1:06:48 AM

  • @ch could be -so much haze things look as if they're flickering
    by UKVal 5/16/2011 1:07:39 AM

  • could that be some kind of moisture wave over distance or reflection?
    by janelle 5/16/2011 1:08:58 AM

  • I think I saw something that looks fire like.....
    by janelle 5/16/2011 1:09:01 AM

  • @all Recognizing the lack of data and the limitations that it implies: -In order to be really meaningful, we need both many more data points than the times and events given above, and reasons for each. For example, what was the reason that fresh water injection was stopped at 14:50 on the 12th? Did the injection system fail? Did the site run out of fresh water? We can go on, but it must be stressed that we cannot read TOO much into the timeline given above. It is only a first working model.

    by UKVal 5/16/2011 1:12:18 AM

    by UKVal 5/16/2011 1:12:39 AM

  • Good grief - is #4 on fire?!
    by Christine - Minneapolis 5/16/2011 1:14:03 AM

  • I don't know... He moved up as if to show us smoke or something he sees right above it..
    by Panserbjorne9 5/16/2011 1:14:03 AM

  • Yeah Nancy!
    by bo 5/16/2011 1:14:17 AM

  • @Christine - Minneapolis no 4's ok
    by UKVal 5/16/2011 1:14:32 AM

  • there is definitely something flickering on 1 - but it could be sunlight catching something. Ditto 3
    by UKVal 5/16/2011 1:17:30 AM

  • Hi @all! Not sure If my eyes are crossing, but I think I might see smoke off of 1.
    by LM 5/16/2011 1:22:56 AM

  • Incoming images, 5 total use the link to get much larger versions. It is absolutely steam, smoke or water spray because it changes shape or goes away in each video frame. Images are in video frame order.

  • TEPCO: No.4 blast due to hydrogen from No.3

The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant says the March 15th explosion at the No.4 reactor building may have been caused by hydrogen from the No. 3 reactor.

  • Double check the images numbers on those, it posted them not in numerical order.
    by Nancy 5/16/2011 1:24:57 AM

  • on 3 - that thing that catches the light is always there. On 1 - I think if it was fire it would have developed by now
    by UKVal 5/16/2011 1:25:28 AM

  • I saw smoke from 1 coming out the top and blowing away towards 5&6.
    by LM 5/16/2011 1:26:44 AM

  • @Nancy it certainly is confirmation that something was happening imho looking at your stills
    by elainekirk 5/16/2011 1:28:07 AM

  • @UKVal You're right..I doubt the spot he was focusing on was a fire. It was there yesterday as well.
    by LM 5/16/2011 1:28:21 AM

  • @Nancy Amazing stills! A thought and/or question: if it were a backsplashing effect against the turbine building would we be seeing it when the ocean side waves are in-bound?
    by smoss 5/16/2011 1:29:18 AM

  • Wide shot on cam now
    by LM 5/16/2011 1:29:53 AM

  • 1 looks like it's smoking a lot and it's not steam.
    by LM 5/16/2011 1:31:58 AM

  • @Majj you are really phenomenal at getting news first, seriously.
    by Panserbjorne9 5/16/2011 1:34:52 AM

  • @nancy @radioguy the layout for site looking good fukushimafaq.wikispaces.com
    by elainekirk 5/16/2011 1:36:23 AM

  • @Panserbjorne9 JUST LUCK ;-)
    by Majj 5/16/2011 1:36:46 AM

  • @elainekirk agreed. Great job @Nancy and @radioguy
    by bo 5/16/2011 1:38:38 AM

  • @smoss Yes it may be water spray. Look at the waves down low as they hit the lower levels near the sea. Compare them to the spot up high between the buildings that is circled. The one image you don't see that steam between the buildings up high also has less wave hitting down below. Not the $1000 question is what is that other steam cloud I circled in the last image that looks like it is up in the trees?
    by Nancy 5/16/2011 1:39:35 AM

  • anybody seen any recent stats for 5 or 6?
    by elainekirk 5/16/2011 1:41:10 AM

  • @Nancy Would agree that there does seem to be a proportional relationship between the waves hitting and the steam rising. Do we know what/if any buildings may be positioned beyond the trees?
    by smoss 5/16/2011 1:44:13 AM

  • time for some rest here.. any questions before I leave
    by dean 5/16/2011 1:44:39 AM

  • First time i have seen "multiple" birds flying around, took 5 videos while camera man was moving things around

by Debra Beckham 5/16/2011 1:45:49 AM

  • @smoss not sure. 5 & 6 are in line with the other buildings. It seems to be a considerable distance away.
    by Nancy 5/16/2011 1:46:35 AM

  • @dean tomoro I have some, rest well :)
