@Edano Naw, they will just have worker clean it up with a shop vac ;)

@Nancy huge thanks to you & radio guy. Site is fantastic
by UKVal 5/20/2011 8:51:44 PM
@Nancy Awsome.
by Shadow 5/20/2011 8:52:25 PM
So quiet, I think it's time for a nap. Take care ALL.
by Shadow 5/20/2011 9:02:16 PM
@Nancy, no name yet...but it is a great beginning!
by Peter Melzer 5/20/2011 9:02:31 PM
Thanks all. Hoping to have some more content details done over the weekend. Voting on group name should start Monday (will post the poll) Meretisa's report on possible names is pinned up above. We are hoping to make the site "live" next week.
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:05:41 PM
I think tippycam's found the float??
by UKVal 5/20/2011 9:15:41 PM
will we still talk here?
by Scilla 5/20/2011 9:16:54 PM
@Scilla of course. The website is the public facing site for the group to put out information we want to share to the rest of the world. Working on a direct link back to here also.
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:20:55 PM
@UKVal That's no float. It's Godzilla doing the backstroke.
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:22:06 PM
@Nancy ah! wondered when he'd put in an appearance
by UKVal 5/20/2011 9:23:43 PM
@UKVal just showed up for a therapeutic Stronium 90 bath. :-)
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:28:03 PM
@Nancy nice!
by UKVal 5/20/2011 9:29:42 PM
Close up on flotilla TBS FEED
by Veenie 5/20/2011 9:30:55 PM
is that Dainii??
by UKVal 5/20/2011 9:32:41 PM
I think I see the float being pushed by a tug? Looked like maybe they had a small lead boat. I love the camera guys at TBS. :-)
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:41:27 PM
LOL,...does this hold true or what?? It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
by Veenie 5/20/2011 9:42:17 PM
2 tugs -1 pulling & 1 pushing
by UKVal 5/20/2011 9:42:52 PM
I think that is Daini. So now a 3rd camera?
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:43:17 PM
They are not too far apart and the waters near Fukushima are kind of radiated. I think it is the same cam.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 9:45:21 PM
@Nancy I think it may be the same cam - think it panned round to south
by UKVal 5/20/2011 9:45:25 PM
@UKVal I don't think it is the first tippy cam but it could be the 2nd tippy cam just turned. The second one is north of Daiichi.
by Nancy 5/20/2011 9:53:27 PM
Tippy cam ? is that the TEPCO cam? Or the TBS cam?
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 9:59:22 PM
TBS cam
by UKVal 5/20/2011 10:00:08 PM
@Ralph Unger TBS, they still use a cute name for such a vile scenario
by Veenie 5/20/2011 10:00:55 PM
@Nancy its 1st cam - just saw it pan for 2nd time
by UKVal 5/20/2011 10:00:57 PM
Anyone lurking on the list have familiarity with the radiation suit protocols used like at the plant?
by Nancy 5/20/2011 10:21:21 PM
Those trees on the cam don't look too healthy
by Paul 5/20/2011 10:21:28 PM
I read a lot about some Florida company sending in good suits, but all I have seen the workers wearing are basically dust suits. They keep out radioactive dust.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:23:08 PM
That sounds lame, but it is actually a good thing, radioactive particles in your body can do much more damage then they can do when outside your body.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:24:53 PM
@Ralph Unger I remember the story about the FL company also. Have not seen anything other than a tyvek suit in photos. Do you know what the under layers has to be under the tyvek?
by Nancy 5/20/2011 10:27:53 PM
@Nancy @dean not great sketch but 4 joining 3 on venting pipes www.tepco.co.jp
by elainekirk 5/20/2011 10:30:22 PM
Hi all! Any news? I noticed that there was 4.9 EQ right off coast 30 min ago. Lots of different cam action....
by LM 5/20/2011 10:37:22 PM
I sent a suggestion to them to use a wet suit, like you use in scuba, drenched in water that was clean, they would cool off the workers and also provide some protection as water is a great neutron absorber.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:37:51 PM
@Ralph Unger who did you send it to? IIRC their current under suit looks like a cotton pajamas looking pull over shirt and basic pull on pants. Does that serve any purpose? Would hot weather under-armor clothing cause any sort of protection problem?
by Nancy 5/20/2011 10:40:01 PM
One of the replies I got mentioned that neoprene is not a good shield against radioactivity,DOH, I meant that the water the suit might hold could add some protection.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:40:57 PM
@LM the 4.9 was a fair way south -off Chiba (where a big quake has been predicted at some point). Tippy cam is following slow progress of the megafloat towards the plant.
by UKVal 5/20/2011 10:41:27 PM
@Ralph Unger right. does the under clothing they currently wear serve a purpose that you know of?
by Nancy 5/20/2011 10:41:57 PM
All I know is that it is hot and uncomfortable, they even had a death last week, I think from heat stroke.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:42:59 PM
IIRC they are just dust suits, meant to keep the body from contacting the surrounding contaminated dust, or breathing it in.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:45:35 PM
@Ralph Unger he had heat stroke that lead to his heart giving out. The word I got from reporters in Japan was that the working conditions are becoming far worse. TEPCO isn't doing anything to come up with better equipment for the workers at the plant and everyone at the plant is too busy to do anything about finding other options. The weather is getting hotter and these guys are just melting. They are going to start having more injuries or deaths if they don't get something figured out. I think they leaked this out through the reporters hoping to get some media attention on it or some suggestions to make things tolerable.
by Nancy 5/20/2011 10:45:49 PM
@Nancy :maybe it would a good beginning to make medical checks before they send them to work.
by Edano 5/20/2011 10:47:11 PM
@Ralph Unger They seal them with duct tape. If the under clothing us just uniform clothing so it can be environmentally laundered they could switch what they wear underneath. Under armor hot gear clothing would be way cooler than cotton knit shirts and pants.
by Nancy 5/20/2011 10:47:12 PM
I will mention again my old post about 250 mSv per career, per year, or per shift? TEPCO does not seem to understand the difference.
by Ralph Unger 5/20/2011 10:47:25 PM
@UKVal Thanks..wow..they had a 5.6 in that same spot 22 hrs ago. Tokyo is in the crosshairs.
