  • If TEPCO is finally admitting that the corium has left the building, where are we on the reactors at this time ? Are we waiting to see when the corium hits the fan, er water table? And then what is going to be the possible outcome of that ?
    by wtm 5/24/2011 4:50:28 AM

  • @Wtm Don't get ahead of yourself. They definitely haven't acknowledged that..That press piece probably won't happen for another 20 years...if we're lucky. Water contamination is probably the biggest issue!!

  • Japan Nuclear Radiation Leak Gives Birth to Earless Bunny
An earless bunny was born near Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant, giving rise to fears that nuclear radiation leak is worse than expected and deformed human babies may be next in the list.
The translated description of the clip reads:
"After the nuclear accident, government and the media said there was no immediate effect on the health. But in the town of Namie Tsushima, which is outside the 30 kilometer area or outside the mandatory evacuation zone, it happened. So far as there has been no news about this kind, it certainly makes one suspect that the government is deliberately making an effort to keep news of the radiation leak a secret. The rabbits, which are housed in an outdoor bunny pen, are eating wild grass, which resulted in earless bunny's birth. This is the first anomaly/deformation ever born. Life cycle of a bunny is quicker than humans. As I am wondering if humans will be the next victim, I imagine the future picture of human babies."
While some raised doubts about the credibility of the video, many voiced their concerns in the comments that followed:

  • all- back again. anything new?
    by Meretisa 5/24/2011 4:56:46 AM

  • @LM, have noticed the reactor stats this morning, #1 higher CAMS in S/C now and #3 still high is D/W, so the corium is definitely on the move there.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 4:57:11 AM

  • @joniver is that real?? :( Oh gods. :(
    by Meretisa 5/24/2011 4:57:43 AM

  • @wtm The other major concern is..if they decide to slow watering down because they're almost out of space for water storage the SFPs are at higher risk of burn and that will mean airborne cesium contamination to a huge degree. By the way...I agree the corium is on the move!
    by LM 5/24/2011 4:58:23 AM

  • @Meretisa That's what is reported, I can't vouch for it.
    by joniver 5/24/2011 4:59:32 AM

  • Time for bed. Night all!
    by LM 5/24/2011 5:00:49 AM

  • @all Anybody watching live cam I think 4 is on fire again same place as this morning???
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:01:11 AM

  • @LM, even if they get these reactor under control, the SFP's will be a problem for a long time, just think of all that debris that is piles on top of them, it has to be eventually removed for them to do anything with them, and any slip of an object being removed could fall and damage/scatter lots of rods below it. Then off to the races again !!! (This could be months, years down the road)
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:01:22 AM

  • @joniver not cool. guess we best be keeping eyes out for other similar things. :(
    by Meretisa 5/24/2011 5:01:29 AM

  • by Meretisa 5/24/2011 5:02:34 AM

  • @wtm No arguments. I completely agree. It's a disaster of astronomical proportions and I think they don't know what to do. Night!
    by LM 5/24/2011 5:03:19 AM

  • @ch Ohhhh..sucked backed in. That spot on 4 hasn't stopped all day it was just harder to see. I honestly think there's a fire on that lower level at tree line.
    by LM 5/24/2011 5:04:55 AM

  • @LM, night !
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:05:41 AM

  • @LM night
    by Meretisa 5/24/2011 5:05:50 AM

  • @LM< just looks like steam on #4, #2 has been dumping steam all day .
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:06:54 AM

  • @ch The area where we saw the original orange last night is now in a location where more of the wall has been destroyed.
    by LM 5/24/2011 5:07:00 AM

  • @Meretisa I know, smaller creatures should be studied.
    by joniver 5/24/2011 5:07:25 AM

  • @LM yes that bright light just showed up as I was watching -the one sl to right of where we were watching this am, and just a little above tree line. It wasn't there a feww mins ago.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:09:44 AM

  • There does seem to be a bright spot on #4, right side lower level above the trees, in a dark square, there is a twinkling bright spot.

  • Iidate screening of cattle in the village, Fukushima Prefecture

    ■ http://www.asahi.com/video (Translation from Good Old Google Translate!)
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident zone "planned refuge" in a given village in Fukushima Prefecture Iidate, May 23 screening tests was to measure the radiation dose from the body of cattle for shipment. County Livestock Market is scheduled for 26 days as a cattle auction in the area intended for a planned evacuation.

by ms in la 5/24/2011 5:09:57 AM

  • @wtm the lower left area of the destroyed side now has a bright flicker. Before dawn Japan time a bunch of us noticed an orange flicker in that spot with a smoke plume. We had no confirmation, but the smoke has not stopped and more wall is missing. We'll have to see. This time it's good night!
    by LM 5/24/2011 5:10:03 AM

  • @joniver agreed. but it will eventually be seen in humans. you know it will. :(
    by Meretisa 5/24/2011 5:10:50 AM

  • @LM, they were supposed to be starting repair work on that SFP today, wonder if something went wrong there ?
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:15:04 AM

  • @Meretisa Most likely it will but by that time Fukushima will be a memory. That's the way it works sadly.
    by joniver 5/24/2011 5:15:18 AM

  • "U.N. panel sees no health effects from Fukushima radiation so far" jpdo.com

    by Bobby1 via Jpdo 5/24/2011 5:15:33 AM

  • @Bobby, email that report to the "Drudgereport.com" news email line, they will pick it up and it will be all over the U.S. in the morning.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:17:05 AM

  • @wtm follow bright light straight up- do you see the small flickering spots? I think (just opinion) fire is deepback in behind some wall or something. LM says its been on fire all day But I just noticed the new flickering lights. Coud it possibly be the SFP itself - not sure of directional orientation inside.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:17:19 AM

  • Or I can do it ?
