  • @wtm Go ahead!
    by Bobby1 5/24/2011 5:17:44 AM

  • @ch, just noticed those !!!
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:17:58 AM

  • This is a heart tugger too. The people who showed up at the Ministry of Education regarding the radiation levels for the schoolyards...

by ms in la 5/24/2011 5:19:09 AM

  • @wtm this is the same area of orange flames we watched while it was dark injapan this morning. Nancy even captured stills posted on the board
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:20:12 AM

  • @Bobby, Drudge has it now, see what happens in the morning ?
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:20:50 AM

  • @wtm Let's hope he picks it up, I think Drudge has a lot of readers.
    by Bobby1 5/24/2011 5:22:36 AM

  • @ch, it could be welding or work lights ?? Or it could be a fire there, will have to keep an eye on it. Maybe somebody in Japan can get a hold of TBS and see if they will do a close up and look at it ? #4 SFP area !!!
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:22:52 AM

  • @Bobby, YES he does, and he covers stuff the main stream (lazy) media won't cover. But I would say this article will get attention especially since it was a San Francisco paper article. Need to find additional article from the local Japanese papers to add to it by morning, then it will start to be a string of info, and the rest of the media will pick it up again.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:25:06 AM

  • @wtm could be. Harder to tell in daylight. In the dark we could see definite orange colored flickers. Maybe they are just working in there.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:25:27 AM

  • @ch, they were supposed to start working Monday morning, which would have been our last night, their morning.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:26:20 AM

  • @ch, if they are work lights that will be lit up tonight inside.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:27:41 AM

  • @wtm Wouldn't want to be workers in there breathing all the contaminted steam/smoke.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:28:48 AM

  • @ch, might just have gotten another quake, cam was shaking steadily.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:31:25 AM

  • @ch, the SFP is just below where that lower bright spot is (if I am correct).
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:32:20 AM

  • @wtm Here's a Yahoo Korea page on the bunny kr.news.yahoo.com
    by Bobby1 5/24/2011 5:33:19 AM

  • @wtm thats what I thought. Question- if the work in 4 is to build up supports on 2nd floor to hold up SFP would they be working up at the top of the 'building'?
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:33:59 AM

  • @ch, might have to find a way to relieve the weight that is falling down onto the SFP from above, which would help control the instability of the SFP framework.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:35:14 AM

  • @wtm Hadn't thought of that. Hmmm
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:36:04 AM

  • Can't use that korean article, not translated, and I think it is just a blog pickup from Yahoo, not a actual newspaper there.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:37:37 AM

  • @ch, if that one bright spot is not a light , it doesn't look like a fire as a fire would flicker and move around a bit, it seems to be a distinct brightness, like a burning reaction would have. Centered in one spot.

  • TEPCO still looking into emergency cooling system

The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is still unable to determine how long an emergency cooling system at the Number 1 reactor remained off after the March 11 earthquake.

Officials of Tokyo Electric Power Company spoke to reporters on Tuesday about the system, which can function without external sources of power.

Operating records at the plant show that the system turned on automatically 6 minutes after the earthquake, at 2:52 PM, and halted 11 minutes later, at 3:03 PM. The system was back on more than 3 hours later, at 6:18 PM.

  • Had 5.9 quake 95 minutes ago there
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:42:01 AM

  • @wtm I do agree about the bottom stationary bright light, but still wondering about the ones in upper part of building.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:42:28 AM

  • @ch, I don't see them know, or they are not distinct enough for my dim monitor to see them.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:43:25 AM

  • Sorry - been having trouble with links today www3.nhk.or.jp

  • Parents demand lower radiation limit for children

A group of parents of school children is calling for lowering the government-set radiation limit for children.

The group is from Fukushima Prefecture, where a crippled nuclear power plant is posing the danger of nuclear contamination.

On Monday, members of the group visited the education ministry and submitted a petition bearing more than 15,000 signatures
    www3.nhk.or.jp This one @ch?
    by Angie 5/24/2011 5:45:46 AM

  • @ch, if they were removing debris from above, I would assume they would also need a crane outside the building to help with that, (nothing there), or they are installing metal poles to help hold the roof up and not allow further collapse?
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:46:11 AM

  • @wtm Here's a list of bunny stories (Korean) news.google.co.kr'%E6%97%A5%EC%97%B4%EB%8F%84+%EC%B6%A9%EA%B2%A9&cp=29&newwindow=1&biw=1920&bih=1067&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ncl=dwHjWFcVCc4-goM7ui8dXp566rDTM&ei=jkTbTZXBF4_3gAez-t37Dw&sa=X&oi=news_result&ct=more-results&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CDQQqgIwAA More stories www.fnnews.com www.edaily.co.kr www.kgbnews.kr

    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:47:38 AM

  • @wtm found Nancy's picture of 4 from this morning but don't know how to repost here go back to pg 24 to view or maybe this link will work this time- www.houseoffoust.com
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:47:54 AM

  • @ch, need to put the (http://) in front of it, then it will link properly
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:48:44 AM

  • @Angie yup thats the one ty
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:49:07 AM

  • @wtm duh- i really am computer illiterate but have learned much here thank you.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:50:23 AM

  • @ch, checked Nancy's post on #4 out, doesn't look the same, her red spot was lower, almost in the trees, this one is above that location, should be the top rim of the SFP area.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:54:53 AM

  • @wtm thanks for looking. Which spot should be SFP? the orange one this AM or the upper ones in question?
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:56:50 AM

  • @ch, there are 4 levels to the building, the 2nd level is the working deck area, the 3rd level is where the overhead crane rails are. The first level is below the trees and we can't see it.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:57:11 AM

  • @Ch, the one we are seeing.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:57:34 AM

  • @wtm Ok I was thinking treeline was bottom floor- my bad. Thanks for clarifying.
    by ch 5/24/2011 5:58:32 AM

  • @Ch, for those to be working light on the 3rd level, they would either have to be standing on the crane or rod loading machine to be up that high. There is no work area there, it is open so the crane can move back and forth.
    by wtm 5/24/2011 5:59:54 AM

  • @ch, no we can't see the first level, it is entirely below the trees (unfortunately)
    by wtm 5/24/2011 6:01:45 AM

  • @wtm Hmmmm Whole structure looks as if a bird sat on it, it would just collapse!
    by ch 5/24/2011 6:02:25 AM

  • @ch, I am really surprised a quake hasn't done that already !!
    by wtm 5/24/2011 6:03:26 AM

  • @wtm Me too!
    by ch 5/24/2011 6:03:49 AM

  • @wtm Do you have any idea how long til dark in Japan? I'm curious to see if anything shows up, but I really have to get some sleep.
