  • @Veenie Of course we did! :-) I bought simplyinfo.org and fukuleaks.org Friday morning. they should both forward to the website now. If they don't let me know and I can do an update.
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 11:59:23 PM

  • @Will That fits with other news circulating today of a non-binding lower target for exposure "We have taken the measure (of setting the new target) so children and their parents can feel relieved," education minister Yoshiaki Takagi was quoted as saying.http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110528a1.html but I've heard nothing about parents being prevented from conducting their own readings

  • @All, I need to get a press release ready unless someone else has been working on one and build a list of media outlets to send it to. Once we think we have most of the things ready to go i can then send that out.

  • @Veenie, RadioGuy updates some things on the website and thinks that it may solve your video issue.

  • Few tweets coming through that there has been a sales tax hike in Japan of 10% people suggesting that it should not be the people paying for this -
are these people effectively funding their own (yet to be recieved) compensation?
    Nothing 'official' yet
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 1:07:33 AM

  • @elainekirk what happened to liquidating TEPCO to pay for all of this? The job market in Japan is as bad as everywhere else. I doubt a 10% sales tax hike is going to do anything but cause more pain.
    by Nancy 5/30/2011 1:08:59 AM

  • @nancy it will get worse because unless a lot of companies relocate and they properly store their contaminated clear up (i.e. playgrounds) somewhere then more contaminated goods are going to leave Japan and thaey will be spotted and sales will plummet
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 1:11:56 AM

  • I am wondering if, due to the bombs, Japanese government fail to realise the dangers in this long term pollution that is happening. I get the feeling they think
'well bombs ripped through cities and we just cleaned up and carried on'' and they think Fuku is the same??
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 1:15:28 AM

  • @all g'night need sleep :)
    by elainekirk 5/30/2011 1:21:44 AM

  • @elainekirk I totally don't get it. If people worry that your products are contaminated they won't buy them. If you tell them the products are fine and provide no evidence to back it up, or you are caught being dishonest about it people won't buy your products. If you have a transparent system where safety is important and followed as part of the product process and people feel it is honest with proof they will buy your products.
There are a number of Japanese things I won't buy anymore because there just is not any honest safety net anymore.

  • Deluge could spread Fukushima radiation There are fears a tropical storm off the coast of Japan could wash radioactive material from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant into the air and sea.

Now downgraded to a tropical storm, former Typhoon Songda is still expected to bring strong winds and torrential rain to Tokyo later this morning, with the Fukushima area also forecast to experience a deluge.

The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), has apologised for not being prepared for the bad weather.

The company has been pouring synthetic resins over the facility to stop radioactive material from being swept away, but the job is far from complete.

TEPCO and the Japanese government both fear contamination could be washed out of the uncovered reactor buildings. www.abc.net.au

  • High radioactivity level at No. 2 reactor

The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant says the radioactivity level and humidity are high in the Number 2 reactor building, which will make internal operations hard.
Workers entered the building last week to measure humidity and to gauge levels of radioactive substances in the atmosphere. www3.nhk.or.jp

  • As nuke workers wait, tainted water climbs
    search.japantimes.co.jp
"So far, the basements of the turbine buildings of all six reactors have been flooded by about 100,000 tons of radioactive water. That's enough to fill roughly 40 Olympic-size swimming pools. Tepco said the water in the waste disposal area is not entering the sea and that daily radioactivity tests show that ground water has not been affected. This may change as the rainy season gets under way and starts filling the trenches around the plant, which could overflow."

  • Hi all! I couldn't believe this crap...........Expert: no threat of radiation from rain
Professor Shunichi Yamashita of Nagasaki University says there's no need to prepare for radioactive rain.

Yamashita said on Sunday that no radiation has been detected in dust in the atmosphere. He was referring to an investigation conducted last week in areas more than 20 kilometers away from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

He says the rains mean radioactive substances on the ground will be washed away and thinly diffused, except for in areas that collect rain.
