I would think, according to PLUME directions, the Russian's are mighty ticked ?!

  • @Veenie yea, like the russian guy last week? the one that wanted to declare war.

    by Veenie 5/29/2011 8:45:11 PM

  • i found an interesting detail on the data plots. i don't know if this fits into any scheme or if this is known: in reactor #3, the pressure failed on march 12, while the water was lost one day later. may this indicates two separate breaches (one in the top, one in the bottom) ? ......

  • yes, and sorry, the pressure unit scale is not made yet ;)
    by Edano 5/29/2011 8:50:40 PM

  • the #3 explosion was on march 14, while water and pressure was lost before.
    by Edano 5/29/2011 8:55:42 PM

  • @Edano, I think I have everything done on my end. I have the place holder images that call over to your FTP directory put into the reactor graphs page. Let me know when your done on your end so I can check things.
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 8:56:55 PM

  • the #2 explosion was on march 15, while water and pressure was lost on march 14.
    by Edano 5/29/2011 8:57:00 PM

  • @Edano could that also explain the possible hydrogen leaking to 4 theory?
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 8:57:44 PM

  • @Nancy : between leaks and explosions there were 24 hours, a lot of time ......
    by Edano 5/29/2011 8:58:59 PM

  • when was the venting ??? do we know that ?
    by Edano 5/29/2011 8:59:47 PM

  • @Edano on what unit?
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 9:01:43 PM

  • @Nancy : today is late. tomorrow i do some test pics. got your mail.
    by Edano 5/29/2011 9:01:58 PM

  • @Nancy #2 and #3.
    by Edano 5/29/2011 9:02:09 PM

  • @Edano Sounds like a plan, must be really late your time right now. I should be around tomorrow.
I don't have venting times handy but they exist various places, will see if I can find one.
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 9:02:50 PM

  • @Edano if your still here this is 3's times Tepco manually vented the containment between 8.41am and 9.20am on March 13.
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 9:04:15 PM

  • i will put the ventings and explosions into the plots.
    by Edano 5/29/2011 9:06:48 PM

  • @Edano looking for times for 2, will email if I find them
    by Nancy 5/29/2011 9:07:10 PM

  • @HI Is this of interest? the rapport seems to sum up radiation in Japan first 60 days and look at forward consequences, exposure lead to cancer, evacuation, also compare to Chernobyl. A lot have happened since this was written in beg of April, but says that : “ICRP suggested reference levels in terms of effective dose in a range from 20 to 100 mSv received in one year for radiation emergency situations. “I think the number of people that should be evacuated may be higher today.
“These dose levels do not take into account other exposure pathways, such as immersion within the plume and internal contamination resulting from inhalation of particles in the plume, as well as internal doses already received or to be received from contaminated food ingestion”

  • @Mona Great Find! I like the approach of Averted Dose by protective actions. "If the Japanese authorities decide to take an even more protective reference level, for example 10
mSv for the 1st year, the averted external doses for the affected populations (70,000 people) would
be much higher if the evacuation is quickly prescribed. An evacuation one year after the accident
would result in a 59% decrease of the projected external dose for this population; evacuation three
months after the accident would result in an 82% decrease." An 82% decrease would significantly reduce overall population risk.

  • @Lurking : the #1 drywell radiation is chugging from 20 to 300 Sv/h all the time since april 8. it goes up and down.

  • by Edano via Www8.pic-upload.de 5/29/2011 9:54:59 PM

  • @RBeaner I now read the letter from that mum in Fuku-it really goes to your heart. I translate it and put it on my blog. But I really want to do what she askes - pressure the Japanese goverment into action. And I wish our governments would help evacuating - I think it is an international desaster.
    by Mona 5/29/2011 9:55:00 PM

  • @Mona ty for that paper. Makes very interesting reading & shows the importance of moving more people out of the worst affected areas.
    by UKVal 5/29/2011 9:55:59 PM

  • @Edano, thanks. So these spikes are "normal" then.
    by Lurking 5/29/2011 9:56:10 PM

  • @Lurking yes, strange, but "normal".
    by Edano 5/29/2011 9:57:24 PM

  • @Mona tha'ts what we hope to do with the letter of support which will go to the Japanese government. But we need more people to sign... perhap I should add that no-one's email address will be published -just their country
    by UKVal 5/29/2011 9:57:31 PM

  • @Lurking : but deadly, in any case.
    by Edano 5/29/2011 9:59:06 PM

  • @UKVal yes that feels great. Maybe we could make a Facebook page of it too?
