  • I wonder if the panel is made out of tent parts? That might explain the design, use what is on hand?
    by lillymunster 7/18/2011 12:37:51 AM

  • ha ha you just need to do advanced search on google so they wasted their time

  • Hmm how do you do advanced search?
    by lillymunster 7/18/2011 12:42:59 AM

  • From rockhopper: JP Environmental Agency started discussing about raising the limit for burnt ash of debris taken from Fukushima pref. Now, 8000Bq/kg is the limit for landfill. But, it may be raised to 100,000Bq/kg to allow higher-level burnt ash to go to landfill. Plus, the discussion includes to allow any incineration facilities to burn debris from Fukushima pref, even w/o exhaust gas filter!! Please notice... the current 8000Bq/kg is temporary limit for emergency. 8000 is not a safe limit! blog.goo.ne.jp

    by bo 7/18/2011 1:05:02 AM

  • @bo have you seen the last lines of that article
Information for this article was gathered on a research trip subsidized in part by the Japanese National Tourism Organization and ANA.

  • @elainekirk (n my best Casablanca voice): I am shocked, shocked to find out there is gambling happening in this establishment.
    by bo 7/18/2011 1:06:46 AM

  • @bo are you prepared for it when are they saying it will hit?
    by elainekirk 7/18/2011 1:06:50 AM

  • @bo roflmao
    by elainekirk 7/18/2011 1:07:14 AM

  • We won't get the worst of it, but we will get a good wallop. It'll hit us hardest tomorrow, Tues. Depends on what kind of a turn it takes. Right now it is headed right for us, but all the models have it turning when the eye reaches the coast of Shikoku. So we will get high winds and tons of rain, but of course, I am more worried about the particles in the circular winds once it heads East.
    by bo 7/18/2011 1:08:22 AM

  • @bo yes they should have distributed iodine tablets
    by elainekirk 7/18/2011 1:09:18 AM

  • Well the list of "should haves" is far too long to find the blank spot to put that one.

  • dilution is good. will lower high rad readings.
    by Edano 7/18/2011 1:10:46 AM

  • Another historical note, on the statements of who could have imagined that the radiation would affect straw. The very first reports of downwind fallout from the Trinity Test in July 1945 were found in straw in Illinois. It is the definition of an historical precedent.
    by bo 7/18/2011 1:10:52 AM

  • @Edano true, I'm just thinking about my own arse.
    by bo 7/18/2011 1:11:30 AM

  • @bo the straw thing was "beyond our expectations".
    by Edano 7/18/2011 1:12:10 AM

  • reading an old document they were unable to take readings of the water in #3 turbine and don't say why.
    by lillymunster 7/18/2011 1:12:36 AM

  • @Edano, still is. When you have no expectations, you have plausible deniability, to use a noble phrase of political leadership.
    by bo 7/18/2011 1:12:44 AM

  • @bo :)
    by Edano 7/18/2011 1:13:10 AM

  • Rockhopper says workers have gone into #3 turbine building but they can only be in there minutes at a time. So it sounds as bad as the reactor building.
    by lillymunster 7/18/2011 1:16:24 AM

  • Soooo If they are putting the panel on 3 with the crane how will it be secured down if they can't be in the turbine building? I doubt they could get on the roof either.
    by lillymunster 7/18/2011 1:17:47 AM

  • @lillymunster and how will it be sealed if they just plonk it on the water will get under it no problemo
    by elainekirk 7/18/2011 1:19:01 AM

  • @elainekirk It would prevent some of the downpour from falling or blowing in. If they don't secure it down the wind could make a big missile out of it.
