Hey, check out the announcement of my upcoming exhibition at Cornell University in Sept:
aap.cornell.eduby bo 7/23/2011 1:35:41 AM

@bo you are going to America :)
by elainekirk 7/23/2011 1:39:36 AM

Is it going to travel as an exhibit later or be put online after the show?
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 1:43:21 AM

@elaine and I will be in Europe too (but alas, not Scotland)! @lilly we hope that it will. We tried to find a gallery space in NYC, but everyone said it was too controversial, so we got Cornell to bite. Hopefully we can take it to other places after that.
by bo 7/23/2011 1:45:10 AM

@bo too controversial?
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 1:46:14 AM

@lilly it will be put online for sure, and I think we will also publish a book about the exhibition. The first image that I found of New York being attacked by nukes was in a daily NYC paper on August 7, 1945! The first possible day!
by bo 7/23/2011 1:46:25 AM

@lilly all the museum and gallery people we talked to in NYC said that a show about NY being attacked by nukes while so many people in NY fear that, might be too sensitive!
by bo 7/23/2011 1:46:58 AM

@bo I would have hoped NYC would have been more open to dialogue. The issues around Indian Point seem to make it a relevant.
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 1:52:47 AM

@bo I think it is the usual case of officials deciding what they want the public to see
by elainekirk 7/23/2011 1:53:40 AM

@lilly agreed. We are hoping that the show at Cornell will stimulate interest in NYC
by bo 7/23/2011 1:53:54 AM

@elainekirk although in this case, some of those are the arbiters of artistic taste in NYC!
by bo 7/23/2011 1:54:32 AM

We were told that NYC would be hard for none artist/players to get an exhibition in, so we were prepared. We may do an LA version too.

@lillymunster d_fuk has tweeted that the tsuruga npp is flowing contaminated water into the sea of Japan, I did a search and got this news article but it doesnt mention any leak but then neither does d_fuk he just says they are flowing it

The street address for this newspaper IS A PARK

en.wikipedia.orgIf you want to factually discuss the issues surrounding depleted uranium I think you will find people more interested in a factual discussion of that since it is actually an issue. As for Mr. Rokke or Mr. Samuels et. al. I can debunk this kind of thing all night long. :-)
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 2:13:59 AM

@elainekirk the link went to a story about fuel reprocessing. Is that the right one?
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 2:16:13 AM

@lillymunster yeah I just did results from last hour search and that was all it threw up I will try the past day
by elainekirk 7/23/2011 2:17:52 AM

@lillymunster I got it wrong just clicked result without checking site this is 2 months old but gives d_fuks post more logic
blogs.voanews.comby elainekirk 7/23/2011 2:20:00 AM

@elainekirk Oh, I think it might be what Dean called a "leaker" fuel rod. "ngineers are looking at a possible leak from the Tsuruga plant's number 2 reactor fuel assemblies into its coolant." Maybe ask him when he stops by if he thinks that is what it is?
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 2:27:02 AM

@lillymunster yes I will time for bed now g'night all:)
by elainekirk 7/23/2011 2:28:06 AM

@elainekirk catch you tomorrow!
by bo 7/23/2011 2:31:45 AM

Just caught this article as I was shutting down
Tepco is measuring the air above the reactors! what a novel idea how did they come up with that? pure genius

Nite Elaine!
@Edano - last I heard it was 17 but that was hours ago.
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 2:42:35 AM

probably a nazi.
by Edano 7/23/2011 2:43:48 AM

I had a random thought this morning, could all of the radiation problems impact unique species in Japan? The one that came to mind was Wagyu cattle. I think the breed has been exported somewhat but many times "the best" blood lines will be where an animal breed originated. If they end up slaughtering much of the cattle to destroy the meat will this impact the blood lines or potential defects in future herds?
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 2:45:44 AM

@Edano wow.
by bo 7/23/2011 2:50:00 AM

@Edano I'm pretty sure it was Amy Winehouse. :-)

@lillymunster : isn't she hospitalized ;)

Despite bombing, hibakusha saw nuclear energy as hope of the future
ajw.asahi.comby lillymunster 7/23/2011 3:35:14 AM

@RadioGuy It reminds me of the first days after Katrina. Govt. officials were claiming things were not too bad in New Orleans. Then some reporters and some citizens made their way to the convention center and the super dome and showed the world what was really going on. The media confronted the same officials with the video and they still tried to talk it away. A few days later they finally admitted people were starving, didn't have water and were dying from the heat. THEN they sent in the national guard with water and food. One of the crews who went in and took video was some college kids who took a honda sedan, some food and water and found an open road and drove right up to the door.
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 3:46:10 AM

Too much of this going on 3.bp.blogspot.com
METI knew what was happening. They need to explain.

The newly announced merger of Constellation Energy and Excelon (key Obama contributor) will create:
"The number one competitive power generator (more than 34 gigawatts of power generation and 226 terawatt- hours of expected output), including the nation’s largest nuclear fleet (nearly 19,000 megawatts)." (22 nuclear reactors)
www.exelonconstellationmerger.comby bo 7/23/2011 4:06:30 AM

@bo now that is scary.
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 4:07:21 AM

Of course all members of the fleet will be held in subsidiary, LLC's so that an accident like the Fukushima accident cannot put other corporate assets "at risk."
by bo 7/23/2011 4:10:49 AM

@bo that so needs to go away. I don't see that happening any time soon since the govt. hear can't tie their shoes without tears and angry news conferences.
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 4:15:01 AM

@bo Lots of Excelon's stock in the midwest is really old BWR units.
by lillymunster 7/23/2011 4:15:46 AM

@lilly I grew up in Chicago, where the first nuclear reactor ever was built in a basement in a residential area. Exelon is old school, they still believe in putting them in basements in residential neighborhoods.
