    by elainekirk 7/24/2011 5:25:51 PM

  • @lillymunster, I like it. Lilly, if you get ready to move on the filtration system, make sure that they can hook it up over there (water line fittings, power?). It may be more difficult for them to find adapters than it is over here.

  • @Peter Melzer That is one thing we asked about on the filters. They will need an adapter. I need to talk to the vendor to see if she can provide one for each. Otherwise it is easy to buy a box somewhere in the states and have it go with.
    by lillymunster 7/24/2011 7:43:58 PM

  • @lillymunster , perhaps you can send them the installation documentation first to figure out beforehand whether they find any problems.
by Peter Melzer 7/24/2011 7:53:43 PM

  • @Peter Melzer yes. There should also be a proper translation done before we would do a larger disbursion so there is a set of install instructions in Japanese.
    by lillymunster 7/24/2011 7:55:41 PM

  • @Peter Melzer do you want 3 & 4 advise saving them they may disappear www.tepco.co.jp
    by elainekirk 7/24/2011 7:56:20 PM

  • @Elaine the 3-4 logs could be really useful on the MOX angle and also finding where they were at on #4 when the quake hit.

  • @elainekirk , I saved them all. I wish I could read Japanese! The devils blacked out things, perhaps it is only names.
by Peter Melzer 7/24/2011 8:44:18 PM

  • @lillymunster , I'd start with a small number and see how the adventure goes.
by Peter Melzer 7/24/2011 8:47:14 PM

  • @Peter Melzer When I was talking to Dean last night I mentioned the orphanage he found contacts for could be a good test bed for these things. There is a group at the nearby US airbase that already does volunteer work at the orphanage.
    by lillymunster 7/24/2011 8:51:48 PM

  • @Peter Melzer yup shame about the Japanese but really novel to find anything useful in Elnglish
    by elainekirk 7/24/2011 8:52:13 PM

  • So we could line up equipment, fundraising and installation in coordination with that existing group to get the process established.
    by lillymunster 7/24/2011 8:52:43 PM

  • @elainekirk Rockhopper mentioned it is still rare for people in Japan to speak English on average.
    by lillymunster 7/24/2011 8:53:28 PM

  • @lillymunster yes there is mayu on the family type tweets I was wondering if we should suggest to her that more go out in English ?
    by elainekirk 7/24/2011 9:01:27 PM

  • back for awhile
    by dean 7/24/2011 9:01:54 PM

  • @lillymunster , hopefully the installation manual will be fairly self-explanatory. If they found a plumber who has installed similar gadgets before, this might not be too difficult. I think to begin with the orphanage is a great idea.

  • @lilly.. do we need to talk to the NU-WATER owner any more?

  • there is a good update here those readings outsiide the zone 15!! www.tepco.co.jp
    by elainekirk 7/24/2011 9:16:52 PM

  • @ elaine do you have the copy of the readings for 3-11?
    by dean 7/24/2011 9:18:43 PM

  • by elainekirk 7/24/2011 9:18:56 PM

  • @dean , elaine posted the links a few posts further down. Unfortunately for us, the original entries are Japanese. There must be mistranslations. Why should the Main Steam Isolation Valve be open after the seismic scram? Mustn't the turbine be isolated?
by Peter Melzer 7/24/2011 9:19:05 PM

  • @elainekirk I down loaded the shift log from 3/11 specific to unit #3. Would you happen to have a link to the Japanese version, if I can pull key Japanese phrases I would like to do a search for shift logs from Fall 2010...
    by smoss 7/24/2011 9:20:55 PM

  • the seismic trip should have triggered the scram and then the interlocks should have isolated the MSIV's @ peter.. unless there were problems from the EQ
    by dean 7/24/2011 9:21:40 PM

  • @Peter Melzer 5 those will be pretty accurate because they will have been translated for the IAEA I think if I were a worker in the situation they were in I would probably have made some bloopers
    by elainekirk 7/24/2011 9:22:13 PM

  • @ elaine.. you suspose these are the TEPCO altered log entries..
