    by elainekirk 8/25/2011 9:53:49 AM

    by elainekirk 8/25/2011 9:55:09 AM

  • @elainekirk Oh, OK :) Any time! and about the doc... this is not iaea doc. This is stored under iaea... so, it's good, they cant delete this. Yes. absolutely. this doc is important.
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 9:55:16 AM

  • @elainekirk hahaha, because the language is full of technical jargons.
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 9:55:42 AM

  • @ikrockhopper Ah that is good I downloaded a copy earlier because I don't trust any of them I like the vimeo vid laughing at iaea
    by elainekirk 8/25/2011 9:57:20 AM

  • Here is the point... If I read this fig this correctly (Mr. Edano will help!), they estimated already in 2001 about late-onset death after these kinds of incidents, even at the end of an accident, somewhere between 10(-3) and 10(-7). This is disturbing, but important. All JPs would like to understand this fig correctly!
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 9:58:06 AM

  • I mean at places 100km away from the plant.
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 9:58:47 AM

  • probability of late-onset death of 10(-3) is NOT small, I think.
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 9:59:33 AM

  • @ikrockhopper yes it is important is this document saying the same article.nuclear.or.kr it doesnt have the pg 66 chart but it has others article.nuclear.or.kr I wondered if it was english version
    by elainekirk 8/25/2011 10:00:02 AM

  • @ikrockhopper but probably it is the doc that the iaea stored doc refers to when it talks of oscaar
    by elainekirk 8/25/2011 10:00:43 AM

  • These people are from the same institute. So, probably this is the uncertainty analysis and sensitivity analysis of this kind of estimation. it seems like it.
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 10:04:05 AM

  • @ikrockhopper there must be so many docs we haven't found yet I will use keywords from that to see if I can find others

  • TEPCO says it thought 2008 calculation on tsunami deserved no publicity

    TOKYO, Aug. 25, Kyodo

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Thursday it had not reported the result of its 2008 calculation that a tsunami higher than 10 meters could hit the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant because it saw no point at the time in publicizing something based on a host of assumptions.

The problem surfaced Wednesday as the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said it was informed of the calculation verbally by a manager at the utility known as TEPCO on March 7, just before a magnitude-9.0 earthquake and ensuing tsunami as high as 15 meters hit the plant on March 11, leading to meltdowns of its reactors.

At a press conference Thursday, Yoshinori Moriyama, a senior official at the agency under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, criticized the utility's failure to report the calculation for nearly three years, saying it should have reported it at an early date.

I am sure Edano-san will know. The box on the top (left hand side one) = 過圧破損 = over-pressure damage (?) Another box on the top (right side) = 早期破損 =Early damage (it says... I don't know what it means). The middle box =管理放出 =Managed vent. Right-hand side bottom = 事故終息 = end of the accident.

  • y= conditional probability of death. x= distance from a plant emitting radioactive.
The two sharply-dropping lines show acute death. Other bunches show late-onset death probability

  • I copy and paste the abbreviations here. So that you can use Google Translation for them. However, the Fukushima case is the loss of electricity (TB). 高圧系作動崩壊熱除去失敗=TW、低圧系作動崩壊熱除去失敗=TQUVIW、炉心注水失敗=TQUV、全交流電源喪失=TB、原子炉スクラム失敗=TC
    by ikrockhopper 8/25/2011 10:22:20 AM

  • TQUV= failure of water cooling of reactor core, TB= loss of electricity
