  • @Edano , if fission happened, we should find some Tc-99m. Its half-life is about 6 hours, short enough that it cannot stem from previous fission and long-enough still to be found on the ground or in water.

  • @elainekirk , first I thought it was a booster seat for kids. It could belong to some construction machine.

  • @elainekirk , how did it end up there? Did the tsunami reach this location?
    by Peter 10/1/2011 8:42:23 PM

  • @Peter but nobody scans for Tc.
    by Edano 10/1/2011 8:42:34 PM

  • Japan ‘scared’ of telling truth to Fukushima evacuees, ABC Australia, September 28, 2011:

Professor Kenichi Matsumoto says the government is too scared to tell people they cannot return to Fukushima

[...] Former special adviser to Japan’s prime minister and cabinet Kenichi Matsumoto has told the ABC that the government has known for months that many who live close to the Fukushima plant will not be able to return to their homes for 10 to 20 years because of contamination. [...]

He says the government is simply too scared to tell Fukushima residents that they cannot return. [...]

“The government should have conveyed the truth to the evacuees. But it felt scared; it feared telling the truth to the people.” [...]

  • @elainekirk , whatever it is, the steam seams to emanate from the ground, or am I mistaken?
    by Peter 10/1/2011 8:48:15 PM

  • allegedlyapparent.files.wordpress.com Yes, notice the 50km notch added to the distance meter, that's the length of the Fukushima major-fallout zone, it's tiny tiny not even fully across a narrow archipelago versus the continent-wide splattered sprawl of Chernobyl.

  • @Ian they say, if fuku was colored with the chernobyl scale, it would be entirely dark red.
    by Edano 10/1/2011 8:55:36 PM

  • @Ian , this map must be taken with a grain of salt, because the contamination is bounded by political considerations. Note, as always and even when fallout is concerned, the Swiss remained neutral and France got very tiny amounts!
    by Peter 10/1/2011 8:57:43 PM

  • @Edano, I think they're wrong.

  • Fukushima 50X Worse Than Chernobyl!

Professor Christopher Busby, who sits on the European Committee on Radiation Risks, told RT yesterday that the reactors at Fukushima are a raging nuclear inferno and he believes at least one of the reactors is now outside its containment structure... www.scoop.it
    by Edano 10/1/2011 9:04:24 PM

  • @Edano, a big difference the author overlooks is the Fukushima map he chose is for Cs137 plus Cs134, but the Chernobyl map is only for Cs137. So the comparison, not accounting for this, is flawed immediately.
    by Ian 10/1/2011 9:04:32 PM

  • @Ian i also tried to follow the scale conversion, but it's not easy and i gave it up :)
    by Edano 10/1/2011 9:05:49 PM

  • @Edano, I've seen a dozen "Fukushima is n times worse" headline and never a one pans out. I can't seem to click-through to that one, but I bet it won't pan out with solid consensus data.
    by Ian 10/1/2011 9:06:59 PM

  • well, it's busby :)

    by elainekirk 10/1/2011 9:08:23 PM

  • @Edano busby is evil nobody with any goodness in them would create the fear in innocent people why governments don't denounce him is beyond me. Maybe we could get official confirmation that the ecrr is non official

I just came across it via australiancannonball.com and find it most disturbing and to me this degrades more of his reputation than artnuk 'anti-propaganda' does ;)

    by Edano 10/1/2011 9:39:20 PM

  • @All, Vivre is pointing to the view count on my BBC debunk www.youtube.com vs the original BBC program www.youtube.com , which isn't officially hosted, but I'm surprised BBC hasn't flagged it. BBC is the most fanatic (c) enforcer I've seen, so I have to wonder if they're letting it stay up.

    by elainekirk 10/1/2011 9:45:31 PM

@Ian well, one could notify bbc - but then people would loose the option to compare the information content
