i never noticed nhk saying "nuclear catastrophe" before.
by Edano 10/31/2011 11:52:12 PM

@Edano going to run with the Belgium story in the morning. I think Majj has a good point, the countries not after nuclear weapons are dumping nuclear power quite fast. The US shouldn't need nuclear power, we have quite the surplus of weapons materials and it isn't like they have a short shelf life.
by lillymunster 10/31/2011 11:54:18 PM

@Edano YEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
by elainekirk 10/31/2011 11:57:10 PM

@lillymunster the connection between nuke power and nuke weapons maybe more profound than estimated. it should be more discussed and revealed.
by Edano 10/31/2011 11:57:19 PM

@Edano I am sure someone from TEPCO's PR office is on the phone right now to NHK getting someone fired. :-)

@elainekirk :) very nice
by Edano 10/31/2011 11:59:24 PM

@Edano the stories in the last week that Japan had a nuke program in the 60's and see nuclear power as an acceptable way to be a nuclear military power without really being one. I can understand it in a way, they are in the same neighborhood as Russia, China and North Korea. I would still rather see everyone not have nukes. It is an insane game.
by lillymunster 11/1/2011 12:00:39 AM

@lillymunster didn't obama promise to abolish nukes ?
by Edano 11/1/2011 12:01:31 AM

@Edano Sort of, have to read the fine print. :-)

Mayor OKs nuclear reactor restart at Genkai plantSAGA, Japan, Nov. 1, Kyodo
The mayor of Genkai in Saga Prefecture on Tuesday effectively approved Kyushu Electric Power Co.'s plan to resume operation of a nuclear reactor that came to halt as a result of human error at its power plant in the town.
''I am persuaded to some degree,'' Hideo Kishimoto told reporters after hearing explanations from Kyushu Electric Executive Vice President Haruyoshi Yamamoto.
''We will reactivate the reactor in a day or two with a view to resuming normal operations within this week,'' Yamamoto said.
