  • @lillymunster Enenews has a video, with English translation captions, on 'Journalist gets inside Fukushima plant, says Reactor No. 4 Spent Pool is completely exposed'. Could you please post video when you get time-thanks. enenews.com

  • Nov. 9 — “A journalist of Shukan Asahi, Mr.Imanishi was invited to go into the site by an actual Fukushima worker,” reports Mochizuki.

The journalist reported that “the spent fuel pool of reactor 4 is completely ‘exposed’,” Mochizuki writes.

For the video below Mochizuki summarizes Imanishi’s comments:

    * The wall and ceiling of Reactor No. 4′s building was completely blown off by “some explosion”
    * “The spent fuel pool is totally left outside, out of control so what you can even see it from out of the reactor”
    * “The wall of the reactors are about 1m thick of huge concrete mass. It is blown off.”
    * “It shows how much the explosion(s) were more massive that they were announced by the government.”

  • I put it in a website document since it is multiple pages. This NRC exchange brings to light something I worried about as I was investigating the LLC legal loophole article. These decommissioning funds are paid into by rate payers. Then Entergy (or other nuke company) invests that money aggressively hoping to make a profit on decommissioning money left over. They don't care if they lose money out of the trust fund because lack of cash to cover it gets paid by taxpayers. The NRC doesn't seem to want to prove these funds are not all now underfunded due to the wall street crash.

  • Thanks Mary & Edano - will add that in a few minutes to get it available. The few people allowed in all have said it is so much worse in person and the photos don't do justice to the damage
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 7:18:20 PM

  • well, it is not new that the fuel pool is "exposed".... :)
    by Edano 11/9/2011 7:18:29 PM

  • @Edano Thanks...took me a bit to cc for the English translation, but it work. I understand this is a new feature the google is working out.
    by MaryW 11/9/2011 7:18:52 PM

  • In my opinion, the translation is a bit 'off'. And it sure is quick, like speed reading:)
    by MaryW 11/9/2011 7:23:06 PM

  • Dang that google trans on Youtube is horrible.
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 7:29:04 PM

  • @Edano his early image in his presentation shows more panel below the pool is missing. It had been gradually falling off in pieces. So full exposure of the lower part is sorta new. That is the first close up photo of it all gone.
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 7:30:18 PM

  • @lillymunster it's useless.
    by Edano 11/9/2011 7:30:29 PM

  • @lillymunster are we getting some close up screenshots ? :)
    by Edano 11/9/2011 7:31:45 PM

  • by Edano via Enenews 11/9/2011 7:32:56 PM

  • Perhaps someone will do a paper translation. As for now, its like trying to piece a puzzle together and getting no where :) Yes, I thought the vid pictures are very interesting and a lot of close-up shots too.
    by MaryW 11/9/2011 7:33:06 PM

  • by Edano 11/9/2011 7:34:10 PM

  • Can someone slow down the video to capture the picture frames better?
    by MaryW 11/9/2011 7:34:26 PM

  • Nov. 9 — “A journalist of Shukan Asahi, Mr. Imanishi was invited to go into the site by an actual Fukushima worker,” reports Mochizuki.

Mochizuki reveals that the reporter stated that “he heard ambulance comes to the plant at least for 10 times a day”: enenews.com

  • Expanded the image in the video and they are showing the level above the fuel pool only, the remaining is below the treeline.

  • If you go through the video and hit the pause a lot, you can get a 'slow' view.

  • @Ian, I managed to find a more current version of Bobby1's document tracking mortality rates using CDC data. This document covers data through week 40, released on October 13th. He specifically mentions, "Infant mortality increase is now significant in the Mountain region (+8.8%), and the New England region (+18.6%)."

  • @Edano and a huge load of it. That is enough to give you nightmares.
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 9:13:11 PM

  • @tippytoe Is this all based off the CDC data? wonder.cdc.gov
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 9:13:37 PM

  • @tippytoe Did you see the decommissioning trust fund info I found while putting together the LLC issue article? The NRC is doing nothing to convince the public they are on top of things and now it sounds like these trust funds may have lost money in the market crashes.
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 9:15:34 PM

  • I compiled all the info on the EPR flaws and set it to post on the site in about 1.5 hours, I wanted to give the article on the video more time in the top slot so people see it.

I frequently hear lay-people claim that the EPR and the AP1000 are technological wonders and totally safe. I think they just took something in the news or a science magazine at face value. They are both as bad or worse than the old BWRs are.
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 9:17:44 PM

  • @lillymunster every reactor is safe as long as it is not operated "on human error" or "beyond design". the inherent problem is and always will be, beyond is armageddon.

  • The younger the person the less likely to return to Fukushima www.yomiuri.co.jp
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 9:21:44 PM

  • @Edano Reactors are totally safe until they aren't. ;-)

I don't think most people realize the issues with these. This explains why Savannah river MOX plant has not been scrapped. If any of these EPR units ever actually run they would be the only other facility to make fuel.
    by lillymunster 11/9/2011 9:23:42 PM

  • @lillymunster, Bobby1's data is based off of the CDCs Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) at: wonder.cdc.gov He used to post here regularly, but I don't think his reports were all that well received due to the fact that you can't prove these deaths are from radiation from Fukushima. One data point that I've noticed that correlates well is that either Arnie Gundersen or Marco Kaltofen mentioned a significant rainout over the Rockies and Bobby1's data shows the largest increase in mortality (8.5%) was from the Mountain Region.
    by tippytoe 11/9/2011 9:30:44 PM

  • @lillymunster, I read your article on the LLC rules and trust funds. The trust fund was another good find. If they really were investing the funds aggressively I wonder what state they are in with this ongoing economic debacle. The article is well done, but I didn't notice two small grammatical issues. In the first paragraph you spell out an LLC as a "Legal Liability Corporation" when it should read "Limited Liability Company". The first sentence to the last para is written, "If Fukushima happened in the US? The people would pay the bill." Probably should read "If Fukushima happened in the US, the people would pay the bill."

  • i am able to share the fascination of the physics, einstein's theories, the natural power of the nucleus that can be freed by fission. it is all in the materials, you just have to add two undercritical masses of heavy metals and they explode in an exothermical chain reaction. it is like magic and people feel proud when they think it can be controlled by them. it is a feeling like on a motorbike wih the engine beween the legs. :) it is magical omnipotency that makes one blind to see the basic problems. the power is under all means destructive and uncontrollable and the risk is not calculable. a nuke reacor is not a simple power engine. it is a tamed bomb.

There is much to still be figured out about the implications in the US. The biggest challenge will be trying to sort out what could be connected to FUKU, for that I think cause of death will give us hinds.
