An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 rocked Hiroshima Prefecture and its vicinity Monday evening, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
There is no danger of tsunami due to the 7:16 p.m. quake, the agency said.

The cesium that leaked into the ocean made it to the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia within a month, 2000 km away. If you look at the ocean currents this garbage could easily have made the US coasts already. Is there any sort of sea testing going on at all in the US or Canada? "Miracle lone pine" has little chance of survival
A conservation group says the only pine tree in a coastal city of northeastern Japan that survived the March 11th tsunami is dying.
The tree in Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture, was dubbed the "miracle lone pine" after the disaster and it has become a symbol of the city's reconstruction. About 70,000 pine trees used to line a scenic coastal area, but the tsunami washed away all of them but one.
Conservation groups in Tokyo and Iwate have been striving to save the tree, as requested by the city government. The measures so far include pumping out saltwater from the ground around the pine and encircling it with steel plates to prevent further exposure to saltwater.
Last month, one of the groups checked the condition of the tree's roots after its leaves turned brown in the summer.
The group says its analysis showed that most of the root tips can no longer absorb water and nutrients due to extensive damage from saltwater.
The 2 conservation groups say it would be extremely difficult to restore the roots.
They plan to discuss whether to continue their conservation efforts.

There was a video that pointed out what looked like a hole in the side of reactor 2, when did that hole show up?
This ex-skf blog entry says that the supression donut may have been damaged by the quake and explain high levels of radiation leakage, and says TEPCO admits there is a hole in the side of the building (other than the panel that was popped out to vent hydrogen) What's the story here?

It is clear from more recent images that it is a removable panel.
