  • @Edano LOL. You do realize you could make the heads of every Thorium fan-boy explode if you wrote up the thorium=homosexuality theory and published it somewhere. :-D
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 4:40:11 PM

  • @Edano Scientific support for the LNT model is not much better. Every single study that I've read that supports the LNT model also suggests that there uncertainty as to it's accuracy in two different circumstances: very high level exposure in a very short period of time and very low level exposure (at radiation background levels or just above, usually the LNT breaks down below 100mSv/year exposures) in a long period of time. There are many studies with contradictory results but they all emerge from a very limited pool of data, so there cannot be any certainties. The LNT model is good because it is the most conservative one, but like I said, in certain circumstances it may not be conservative enough. This is what the scientific and the medical communities say, I'm neither. Only sharing what I read. I just find it funny that a doctor would dismiss a theory without any proof that it is wrong. That is not very scientific.
by Pedro Jesus 11/24/2011 4:41:54 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus as far as policy, until we have conclusive answers I think they are better to take the most conservative approach when dealing with public exposure.

  • I want to unleash a rabid badger in the underpants of the lawyer that uttered that claim.
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 4:57:00 PM

  • @lillymunster That's what I support. And more serious research on the subject. Stamping theories as being non-sense and dismissing them without any research is not the way science evolved. Think Galileo, Newton, Einstein... the world would still be round and flat, we wouldn't understand gravity (well, actually we still don't but that's another question), we wouldn't have the technology to build nuclear power plants... oops, I'm not doing a good job at defending my point, am I?

The problem I see with the LNT model is that it may not be conservative enough for very high level - short time exposure. There is evidence that suggest that it isn't. Every study that I read supporting the LNT model raises that ambiguity. And that knowledge is crucial to protect nuclear workers, for example.
by Pedro Jesus 11/24/2011 5:02:03 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus it is the tough nature of science. We don't always get nice tidy answers or an answer right away but people want answers right now. Then you have agendas who use not yet conclusive science to fit it to their agenda. Either making it seem conclusive or totally dismissing it.
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 5:04:35 PM

  • @lillymunster Agendas are the worse. The Pharm agenda is insane here in Portugal. They're selling medicine that kills and you don't even need a prescription to buy it. Paracetamol, for example. It has been show to lead to hepatic failure that can lead to death (and there have been many reported cases with a direct link) and they're still selling it in the supermarkets.
by Pedro Jesus edited by lillymunster 11/24/2011 5:07:37 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus tylenol in the US. They issued all sorts of warnings to people to not over use or mix with alcohol. They also mix tylenol into lots of other medications. So people end up taking it daily when they may not really need it. We have horrible problems here with the pharma industry. Their new trick is to get all old non patented medications banned. This includes lots of cheap well established medications including some over the counter ones
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 5:12:48 PM

  • @lillymunster And I do mean supermarkets. You don't need to go to the chemist to get a box of Paracetamol (Tylenol) based tablets. Paracetamol is the pharmaceutical best seller in Portugal. Most certified doctors prescribe it for anything from a headache to local inflammatory symptoms to flu symptoms... insane.

  • Tylenol can be had anywhere in the US - grocery store, gas station, see it in vending machines.

  • @all - I hope you're doing well as can :-)

@lilly - thanks for your ongoing efforts
yesterday I came across your special link-list of those currently released tepco-vids and that Hilbert00 streamed and uploaded most of them - big thanks to him :-)

(I also tried to do that but found a 20min vid took 45min streamtime so I delayed my aim - and am glad Hilbert managed it)

To come to the point: I started examining the 'TEPCO’s Video Dump All Files Here'-page and quickly found various links where wrong so I checked the whole lot. Now instead of listing all concerns I'd simply hand over my worksheet which should be easy to understand - and maybe wellcome to others who incidentally pick it as well.

    It's a html-page with two major parts:
a - the 'original' tepco-link-table enhanced with a forth row including all working yt-links
b - the 'original' SimplyInfo-link-list including marks showing the broken links (u.a.).
Here I kept the 'broken' links and noted the correct yt-numbers behind them (thinking this might be the handiest display to crosscheck and quickly apply the corrections)

last: there's one vid I couldn't find at all and maybe it simply got lost among this 'big' project: 'field inspection of core spray injection on Unit 2 11:26 September 2, 2011'

    tepco-movs-111111-e.html: tinyurl.com
(sorry for tiny but the direct-link makes my comment a spam)

    nice greetings ~ Vivre
    by Vivre 11/24/2011 11:33:34 PM

  • Thanks Vivre, will give it a look. We were cutting and pasting all over yesterday trying to process it all so bad links are quite the possibility. Will see if I can get them sorted.
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 11:35:23 PM

  • @lillymunster i can upload if you find one missing. :)
    by Edano 11/24/2011 11:35:59 PM

  • @Edano will run through the bad ones and then list any truely missing
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 11:37:32 PM

  • @lilly - your wellcome :)
yes when startet to check the lot I quickly found that it can really make you dizzy with all these similar expressions

  • Next question.
This group says the last two are missing but if I click on the link I can get the videos to pull up on youtube and play?

    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 11:54:54 PM

  • @lillymunster confused....which ones are missing ?......scratching my head.
    by Edano 11/24/2011 11:57:16 PM

  • Listed as missing in Vivre's notes:

field inspection of core spray injection on Unit 2 11:26 September 2, 2011
    TEPCO link: www.tepco.co.jp

Unsure on the other two mentioned two posts ago as they are labeled as missing but I get the videos to pull up. Maybe these are the ones Hibert00 has labeled strangely? I remember a couple where he didn't have the title quite exact but they seemed like the correct videos? Vivre, can you help?
    by lillymunster 11/24/2011 11:59:47 PM

  • the 2 'missing' videos are only missing links (the videos are online)
only the long 10min file is nowhere to find: 'field inspection of core spray injection on Unit 2 11:26 September 2, 2011'
    by Vivre 11/25/2011 12:04:45 AM

  • hmmm cannot grab this one (1111-07), because it's too long :(
    by Edano 11/25/2011 12:07:24 AM

  • @Vivre Ah got it on the pair of "missing" we do have the videos, I didn't put text links in the spot.
    by lillymunster 11/25/2011 12:07:40 AM

  • @Edano let me look - now that video is the only one left undone
    by lillymunster 11/25/2011 12:08:03 AM

  • I had an incorrect video linked under it. I am guessing due to our inability to get a video uploaded due to length and Hibert00 probably had the same problem, thus him not uploading it either. So we have one too large video. Is there a way to "cut" the original into 2 videos and post or should we just call that one not found?
    by lillymunster 11/25/2011 12:11:00 AM

  • @lillymunster do you have them all saved ? just in case they vanish from youtube ....
    by Edano 11/25/2011 12:11:13 AM

  • @Edano - I can use the following link in VLC to connect to the video - maybe it helps you (?)
    202.79.242.88:80
    by Vivre 11/25/2011 12:11:21 AM

  • @Vivre is that a TEPCO direct link for the vid? We were making sure there were copies hosted elsewhere like YouTube due to TEPCO saying they will delete these videos Dec 1st
