  • @all At this point do you honestly believe its wise to depend upon the mainstream media for accurate and updated information? I really want to know your opinions.

  • @Tenzing I think when it's night time hours in Japan, it should be a slow time for news. I don't have any agenda.
    by FradyKat 3/27/2011 2:22:07 AM

  • @radioguy Yeah, i thought so and i believe, with this we are closer to Japan now when before with Local's measuring.
    by VeenOui 3/27/2011 2:22:24 AM

  • @Tenzing Not really. I haven't liked the way the the US media has covered this topic. It's either fear or "Oh, its going to affect what you can buy"
    by Natalie 3/27/2011 2:22:42 AM

  • @Tenzing, yes i do but with a healthy amount of scepticism
    by WolfDK 3/27/2011 2:22:46 AM

  • It brings up a question I've been wondering about since looking at the denphone graphs linked above. On the 21st and again into the 23rd there is a doubling of the norm in the graph. Was that delay in radioactivity reaching Tokyo or did something happen on the 23rd that spiked it so much it still hasn't fallen off?
    by radioguy 3/27/2011 2:23:20 AM

  • @Tenzing Looks like they're not saying anything right now. Really nothing there to or not to depend on. Sorry to say it and I hope and pray I'm wrong, but, Pandora's box may be open.

  • @FradyKat I believe its currently Sunday March 27, 2011 11:30 AM in Japan.http://www.happyzebra.com/timezones-worldclock/difference-between-Sendai-and-Portland.php
    by Tenzing 3/27/2011 2:24:58 AM

  • From GreenPeace: "As we found out today, the radiation levels are high in Fukushima city -- our measurements confirmed levels that have been reported in newspapers and by the government -- in some places so high that you would get your "maximum annual dose" (if you believe in such things) in about 8 days. It's a bit strange to see people biking and going about their business." www.greenpeace.org
by Sinthia Domina 3/27/2011 2:25:38 AM

  • That's correct it's currently 11:25 here in Tokyo.

  • sorry did it again -- this factory was leathal service piping - product kills in 24 to 48 hours, no known anidote... during construction we ordered the weld wire for piping connections not only to code, but had several extra test profomed... durnig the last month of construction we became aware that the test had been falsified (still have origninal papers with blue ink) operating press was appr 3500 psi, with sever cyclic temp. (again product was deadly with in 24 -48 hours..) due to the chemical mature of the product the piping system would have failed eventually due to the lack of the proper amont of molybdenum and other chemical issues. it was only by chance we learned the wire was NOT as certified by the manufacture. During the pending law suit, we had to rebuild the facility, in discovery the document provide to us showed over 900 lbs. shipped to the US, mostly this product would only be used in a very "serious piping system" due to the cost of certification. The manufacture (or know one) was required to "recall" this wire... our documents were blacked out as to who else may have purchased the remain wire.. we only bought apprx 100 pounds... it is unfortunate to say but we do have "safety and Regs" but if you are in the business... its scary to see how people "look" the other way... WE DO NOT!!!... sorry this go messed up, i am not a blogger.. just like learning and seeing what you have to say

  • @Sinthia Domina I think Greenpeace reporting that the government's readings are correct should be comforting to those that think there are much larger amounts of radiation leaking, I hope.

  • @Tenzing OK... that's right... the snow blew in and the wind shifted.
    by radioguy 3/27/2011 2:32:37 AM

  • @ Grizzly Perhaps, although no numbers in the article from greenpeace. Found this piece at the NYT "Radiation's Enduring Afterglow" ---- "Early in the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan, neighbors were informed with absurd precision that the radioactivity in a liter of their drinking water had risen to the equivalent of 1/88th of a chest X-ray. One day last week the air in Tokyo registered 0.155 of a microsievert an hour — another chest X-ray, if you were confined for a month at that level. Though stretched to the point of meaninglessness, the analogy is meant to soothe — balm for a spirit burdened by a century of living uneasily with radiation. " www.nytimes.com
