Someone asked how long TEPCO and GOJ have known about the breach. In my estimation, since the 13th when the neutron flux was measured. Neutron radiation is a product of fission. There was no plausible explanation for fission to be occurring outside the RPV's. For it to be measured meant that both the RPV and CV's were compromised. They may not have known which unit created it, but they knew at least one was breached.

@Alaskan: I scrolled back 4 pages and have yet to find the 'link' that you are referring to. In all due respect, unless we supstaniate a comment with a report, we are still creating chaos. Bev do you have measurement other then from the main gate? That is all i have and I do not think it would show fission, as it is blocked from the piles. On Neutrons that is.

That's why there are no (that we know of) remotes with cameras giving us views inside. We can send a remote to the moon, but not into a contaminated reactor.

@Gordon I don't know, that's what I've been asking since the 23rd, which is when they first told us they detected neutron flux on the 13th. And why the 10 day delay? I was very upset and frustrated that not a single media organization hounded them on such a crucial omission and delay.

@Ralph TEPCO did not report the exact location of the neutron flux measurements, except that they were detected 1.5km from the plant. Direction was not specified.

@Bev: Absolutely, hence, the dance aka the Texas Two Step. It's all coming down to a liability issue, unfortunately. Weird, but I read with me own eye on wikipedia that a 'source' said that PM Kan 'ordered' the spraying of salt water. (Personal aside: I was married to a litigation attorney, hence, my current thinking). NYT mentioned in an article that the a spokesperson from the GofJ 'dodged' a question. All of a suddden, Kan, is reliant on it nuclear agencies for advice, upgrades, etc. Contamination aside, I'd love to be a 'bug on the wall' as these 'private discussions' continue.

@Tenzing I made it to try and come up with a better solution than Reuters facebook page, since it wasn't serving its intended purpose. So it was originally meant to sort out news so people could find it easily. However, there is also an off-topic board that can be posted on it.

I've been thinking (yes I know - can be dangerous) - just as Chernobyl did not have a major effect on Kiev it would seem that the weather gods have been kind here too and spared Tokyo major contamination but the total fallout here is fast catching up with Chernobyl, is there anything that indicates this is less than Chernobyl?
