@Ralph Unger don't have a source to cite, but it would be per worker/yr. when you hit 250usv you're moved to non-exposure position. In the USA, the limit for workers is 500usv (msv).

@Ralph Unger Which is why stuff don't add up. They just found OVER 1 Sv (1000 mSv) per hour in the contmainated water (calcs put it at about 3 Sv/hour). Evan at 1 Sv/ hour, you could have a worker stand there for 15 mins MAX before being sent home...forever. So they are either not able to do work, have tons and tons of workers. or they are going over the limit regularly.

@Jojo That number is slightly dubious. It is 1 mSv / year limit to the general public directly resulting from any nuclear operation. Most people receive more than that per year from medical procedures (not to mention natural sources).

Thay wear rad suits, bootie respirators (oxygen tanks if real bad), and dosimeters that they're supposed to wear and listen to. cuts out all alpha, beta, some gamma. hence the time limits

plus, before they go in they do a survey with a boom counter. gives them an idea where the hotest spots are. Radiation dosae is a function of time And distance.

THay should have had on rubber seamless boots that were taped, sleeves taped at gloves, etc. but the survey was done too far in advance, so they didn't know the water was hot
