Dr Gale says there were no genetic abnormalities from chernobyl! There were at least three posts on reuters from people who said there were kids in school with no arms, etc.

@Marie: Don't feel bad. Tony didn't like me... :-( Honestly, I read him the riot act. There were so many people from Japan on that thread looking for info at the time too. He would come on shift and the feed would grind to a halt. I didn't care if he didn't okay my posts, but I felt bad for the people who relied on the source. I understand that it could be perceived as grunt work. Hey, I wouldn't want to filter through all the stuff either.

For decay chart, try periodictable.com If you click an element then click on isotopes and click on a specific isotope, it draws a very pretty picture of the relevant data!

Earlier today somebody quoted from arstechnica forum (sp.?) and said that isotope of chlorine is a "demon element" or something. They listed all the decays and radioactivity of each, and said it was awful. I had no context for what was said, however, so can't independently check it.

Does anyone have a good source for info on radiation dosage and fractionation? All I can find is references to radiotherapy. I want to understand how fractionated dosages influence risk for nuclear workers and the public.

For example, engineers are interested in knowing how seawater damages metals. This information is important in determining the best techniques to use in building ships. An experiment can be done by adding pieces of metal to seawater that contains radioactive chlorine-36. The sodium chloride in the seawater is changed slightly so that it contains radioactive chlorine instead of normal chlorine. As the sodium chloride attacks the metal, its actions can be followed easily. The radioactive chlorine, chlorine-36, gives off radiation. That radiation can be detected by holding an instrument near the experiment. A scientist can find out exactly what happens when the sodium chloride attacks the metal.
I'm going to bed, its snowing outside here in Canada, and now I just read about Radiation Rain in Boston and now I will have dreams of nuclear winter, just great..Lol.

in the reactor I'm associated with the chloring within the make up water (low pressure demineralized water) is kept at a very stringent level to prevent concentrations that can cause chloride stress corrosion
