    by roscoojam 4/11/2011 11:31:33 PM

  • I know that you are going to say that "this does not pose any threat to the populace at this time" :)
    by Optim 4/11/2011 11:31:59 PM

  • @me Sorry happens, too fast too many flashes .
by Veen Oui 4/11/2011 11:32:02 PM

by Veen Oui 4/11/2011 11:32:45 PM

  • @roscoojam I meant to log on then comment to you, not use your login as my login and then comment. Sorry.
    by Linda 4/11/2011 11:36:49 PM

  • I have found it to be both. You should see a Recorded upper right if it is but perhaps they record and then show it "live" for a 1st time. There are times I know it was in the past as they would state there is a live news conference and the breaking news on other sites and quick follow ups with papers occurred.
    by @roscoojam 4/11/2011 11:37:19 PM

  • Hear the news? NISA has now officially declared this accident a 7.
    by borrrden 4/11/2011 11:37:23 PM

  • Yes apparently there was an earthquake a few minutes ago, but I was riding my bike and didn't even notice it o,0.

  • @elainekirk Ha!! Yes, indeed...stand by for the "corrected data" show.
by James Ward 4/11/2011 11:46:05 PM

  • At last after all the evasion and dishonesty of the past 3+ weeks the admission that the Fukushima disaster is of INES 7 severity reflects what has actually been going on (and has been obvious to contributors to this blog).
    by hudebnik 4/11/2011 11:47:58 PM

  • nhk says lots of radiation around #4 reactor released due to fire.
    by edano 4/11/2011 11:49:09 PM

  • @hudebnik And now that it is a 7 I'm sure some of the contributors of this blog would have a level 8 invented just for this incident.....
    by borrrden 4/11/2011 11:50:47 PM

  • @borrrden : iaea is considering this.
    by edano 4/11/2011 11:52:26 PM

  • @hudebnik One thing that really stuck out to me was when the US Drone flew over the site which was followed by the 50 miles evacuation notice.

  • NYT's @HirokoTabuchi says fire was in battery storage bldg at Fukushima Daiichi. No effect to reactors, water cooling continues. twitter.com!/martyn_williams
    by gabe 4/11/2011 11:53:30 PM

  • @borrden you may be right (and indeed it could merit it).
    by hudebnik 4/11/2011 11:54:00 PM

  • @edano What....where does it say that?
    by borrrden 4/11/2011 11:55:11 PM

  • @George Gibb makes you wonder what they saw on the footage........
    by Angie 4/11/2011 11:55:28 PM

  • so far the accident hasn't got chernobyl-style consequences though by a decent margin - by virtue of most of the contamination going into the pacific... Although I guess it might if it keeps leaking for months
    by Sims 4/11/2011 11:55:48 PM

  • @Angie yes and then all the questions about why they recommended 50 miles and no answers
by George Gibb 4/11/2011 11:56:25 PM

  • @George Gibb and Fukushima will go down in history not just as the most inept handling of a major nuclear emergency but as the absolute classic example of how not to handle a massive 'bad news' event.
    by hudebnik 4/11/2011 11:57:04 PM

  • @sims - true, but it has surpassed the set international scale. ***ulative so far it has not but I suspect like you that it will.
    by Linda 4/11/2011 11:57:21 PM

  • @hudebnik Amen...spin won't work if the data shows otherwise and people are determined enough to ferret out the truth.
    by pj 4/11/2011 11:57:55 PM

  • @George Gibb when do we ever get answers????
    by Angie 4/11/2011 11:57:56 PM

  • @hudebnik well, I think the initial evacuation was handled very well - orderly but then the logistics of moving millions came to a reality.
by George Gibb 4/11/2011 11:58:59 PM

  • @sims....so what exactly leads you to believe that it won't leak for months?
    by wrshpr 4/11/2011 11:59:01 PM

  • @pj the truth WILL out in the end, it always does. Pity about all the missed opportunities over the past weeks...
    by hudebnik 4/11/2011 11:59:40 PM

  • @Angie Same way as always look a the evidence and dig like some people here have done
by George Gibb 4/11/2011 11:59:51 PM

  • NHK: There was a fire at "Sampling Bldg" near South Drain of Daiichi at 6:38a and ceased immediately ykso.us
by Veen Oui 4/12/2011 12:00:08 AM

  • where have I said I believe it won't .. It may or it may not.. but at this point there is no real way of knowing
    by Sims 4/12/2011 12:00:30 AM

  • @George Gibb I think thats the only reason we have any info! These guys on here have done amazing!
