  • @xxx: #3 is not so hot: head of the vessel being at 68 °C when water is at 122 °C inside the RPV seems consistent, when it seems there is no concrete plug above the steel vessel... Likely to mean there's no steam in the containment vessel, just in the RPV.

  • Cs-134 is short lived and it is still high as well as I-131 and most importantly Cs-137 with a 30 year half life.

  • @ColorMeRed yes it is high and so is the temp. we must not forget, that there was most number of fuelrods stored and also some of the pool might be filled with ruble from explosion. so there is not much room for water.

Why would it be coming from the RPV? I wonder what the basis is for such a sentence. I can't imagine any mistranslation would create such a glaring error.

  • Which the quake may have broken or this might have happened, Old data, but still relevant. "Dave Lochbaum has suggested a common failure mode for leaks in the spent fuel pools. Large doors in the side of the pools are equipped with rubber tubes that are inflated to seal around the door. Even if these seals were not damaged, without power to run the pumps that keep the seals inflated, they can lose air over time and create leaks around the door.   • @elainekirk 91 fuel rods over capacity.. Almost makes you wonder if the fuel gate was open as well.. The reactor had to be flooded if the cap was off.. So leaves you wondering for sure.
