  • Electro-chemically active elements, such as excess oxygen, dissolved in the coolant stream can cause inter-granular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) in the reactor vessel and piping systems. This can result in additional outage time and increased costs for reactor internal replacements or repairs. The initiation of IGSCC can be mitigated by both injecting hydrogen to neutralize the free oxygen and by monitoring the electrochemical corrosion potential (ECP) in various locations.

    GE recommends that BWRs use detectors that accurately monitor ECP when hydrogen injection is turned off, as well as when hydrogen is being injected. At present, many plants utilize a system that can monitor data from two different types of probes: www.ge-mcs.com

  • A real h bomb is really different, it its a nuclear fusion explosion, gigantic energy output. You use conventional explosives to set off a nuclear fission explosion, which is then used to detonate the nuclear fusion explosion.

  • @Ralph Unger Yep I saw that, there is a note on the bottom of the main page reads: I exclude the unit No. 4 from a list in the state that a nuclear reactor doesn't have a fuel body for the check stop inside. When water level exceeds a minus, the top of the fuel rod begins to be exposed. The exposure degree calculates it based on the value of the ratio of water level exposing to light from the height of fuel rod (about 600cm =6m). The value of the ※ graph displays maximum absolute value of the day.

  • @dean: i think that's suppression chamber from unit #4 (this data is listed on page n=4 at atmc.jp). If it's a real value.. and #4 has an empty core into the rpv, how can so much radiaton be found into the s/c for that unit?

  • I received a message from a friend in Japan notifying me that TEPCO, NISA, Japanese Government will be limiting those attending the conferences. Independent reporters will no longer be allowed it appears. Good luck with finding accurate news from Japan from now on. If you think it was bad before....it's nothing compared to the future. The Japanese Press is owned by TEPCO and will only report what Tepco wants them to.
