@all, the safecast site is showing that there was a spike in detection on April 30 in many areas around Osaka and to the west of Fuksushima, does anyone know what this was from?

The only things I am finding around the 30th would be the spent fuel pools needing water. I could be wrong but don't remember any other new announced data. The SFP at 3 and 4 heat up and we see either steam or smoke and could potentially put matter into the air, esp. if it burns. They have not announced any venting but they are trying to get into reactor 1. Some of the people that follow the reactor statistics closely would know much more than me. Marie, Ralph or Mark might know more.

It looks to me like mangled containment cap but have nothing else to confirm it with.

It looks almost like the cap split and that chunk is still attached partially. If it is the cap.

OK, how about this. The cap was in fact weak at the bolt holes, but the cap didn't, the well did, and it shoved the cap aside, rolling it up, when it vented?

that area around the cap.. if that's it.. shows the depth of the explosion on the main floor.. it's a good distance in normal conditions from the top of the main floor to the top of the cap

Notice the chunk we are looking at, if it is containment cap, is on the side where the blast was less damaging. The opposing side as if where it let go is the side where the floor and everything is obliterated.

Scrollimg down, makes me want to put in my two cents... I think it's a large piece, or half of yellow cap. And if you look at bldg from other side, it looks like there are some smallish shards.
