    by dean 6/13/2011 10:34:17 PM

  • @Ian thanks and thanks for the Italy link
    by elainekirk 6/13/2011 10:36:04 PM

  • www.osti.gov @ Pedro and Edano.. this may be a good read..
    by dean 6/13/2011 10:36:56 PM

  • so we have Germany and Switzerland to nuke off, and no nukes in Italy, Austria and Denmark. that's pretty much the center of europe.
    by Edano 6/13/2011 10:39:40 PM

  • @lillymunster QUOTE "Has anyone found any confirmed information about the spent fuel at #1 having the water vaporized out and the spent fuel melted? I saw this mentioned in passing on blogs twice now today but no confirmation or source on either. Don't know if this has any evidence or another internet rumor.. ;-)"
If not fake could it be a typo ? #4 instead of #1.. i dont believe any SFP have burned up thou
    by WolfDK 6/13/2011 10:41:33 PM

  • and it is a consequence of fukushima. we cannot say the world does not learn. it seems the world learns fast.
    by Edano 6/13/2011 10:41:34 PM

  • Just stopped recording, did anybody notice anything worth saving in the last 3 or so hours ?
    by WolfDK 6/13/2011 10:42:42 PM

  • @Edano No nukes in Portugal either, on the westernmost tip of Europe. Spain and France can be a big problem, though. Particularly France, one of the top nuclear potencies in the world.

@dean Thank you. I've added that one to my research links concerning Kurion.

I have some work to do. I'll come back later. Keep up the good work.

  • Three melts downs in Japan and Europe learns the lesson while Japan plans to plow forward toward future wastelands.
    by Ian 6/13/2011 10:48:31 PM

  • @WolfDK Yes, you'll have captured a fairly big quake which repositioned the camera. Almost 2 hours ago now.
    by es 6/13/2011 10:50:00 PM

  • @es let's just hope it didn't' reposition SFP4!
    by Ian 6/13/2011 10:51:01 PM

  • @Ian I thought the very same!
    by es 6/13/2011 10:52:22 PM

  • @dean they used resin in tmi as an ion exchanger.
    by Edano 6/13/2011 10:53:57 PM

  • Morning everyone!
    by Angie 6/13/2011 11:00:52 PM

  • Back again..hi all! Anybody notice the black thing on top of the building to the right..it wasn't tere earlier? It looked like it was smoking and isn't normally in view...
    by LM 6/13/2011 11:01:00 PM

  • I meant...the building looks like it's smoking and the black thing wasn't there earlier.
    by LM 6/13/2011 11:06:01 PM

  • @LM You're right it's not normally in view, and I expect TEPCO will correct the positioning of the camera fairly soon, but the 'black thing' on top of theat building was there earlier, albeit sometimes been obscured by fog/steam. I think it's something fixed, i.e. not smoke.
    by es 6/13/2011 11:07:19 PM

  • Thanks es! It must have been obscured. Do you have any idea what building that is? I looked and couldn't find out.
    by LM 6/13/2011 11:08:36 PM

  • @LM Not sure exactly what it is. Looks to be some sort of power sub-stationy-thing. If you zoom in, this view clearly shows its numerous power lines:

    by es 6/13/2011 11:13:39 PM

  • Thanks es. It really looks like smoke coming out of the top towards the front facing the reactors.
    by LM 6/13/2011 11:17:21 PM

  • @es Yes i just saw it scanning through the captured video, at 05:59:50
    by WolfDK 6/13/2011 11:18:05 PM

  • @WolfDK Excellent.

  • @smoss hi
    by elainekirk 6/13/2011 11:28:50 PM

  • back.. Edano, that's what kind of system I'm used to
    by dean 6/13/2011 11:30:00 PM

  • @LM Yes, I agree - it does look very much like small wafts of dark smoke are coming out of the open front of that building.
    by es 6/13/2011 11:31:34 PM

  • @es It's good to know I'm not hallucinating alone. LOL!
    by LM 6/13/2011 11:34:12 PM

  • @Edano @dean Yeah resin beads have been the norm, I think , based on a shallow investigation, that Kurion is using mixed beds, same as allways, however the breakthrough is in the ion exchanger being both disposable and vitrifiable without sluicing or alot of handling. Requires alot more investigation though:)
    by RBeaner 6/13/2011 11:34:51 PM

  • @WolfDK Did you happen to be recording the TEPCO stream between 00:30-01:00 on 2011-06-14, Japan time? Something bad happened and I think the cam may have been temporarily inaccessible.
    by es 6/13/2011 11:36:06 PM

  • there is a vid I posted further down @es I will go find it
    by elainekirk 6/13/2011 11:37:01 PM

  • @es no i did not, started recording 02:43:20 tepco cam time
    by WolfDK 6/13/2011 11:38:26 PM

  • @es midnight till one am

    by elainekirk 6/13/2011 11:39:51 PM

  • @elainekirk Thanks. Ugh.
    by es 6/13/2011 11:40:13 PM

  • @RBeaner : no, they use vitrificated zeolithe, an anorganic material.
    by Edano 6/13/2011 11:45:23 PM

  • @es : i think it can be seen very clearly that it's fog.
    by Edano 6/13/2011 11:47:09 PM

  • @RBeaner www.pennenergy.com their "media" is anorganic, hence no resin.
by Edano edited by Edano 6/13/2011 11:50:27 PM

  • @Edano I agree it's foggy there, but even so this seemed a little out of the ordinary - earlier fog than we normally see which lifted before returning at dawn. The arrival of the earlier fog was preceeded by some fairly steamy activity, particularly from #3 and #4.
    by es 6/13/2011 11:56:23 PM

  • They moved the cam back.
    by LM 6/14/2011 12:01:30 AM

  • Wtf, something happened at 2.18 in the YT video elainekirk posted

  • by dean 6/14/2011 12:21:27 AM

  • by dean 6/14/2011 12:21:35 AM

  • @Bobby1 : as much as tokyo, or even more !
    by Edano 6/14/2011 12:28:02 AM

  • @Edano Yes, certainly more than many areas of Tokyo, probably not the hot spots in the eastern part.
