  • @dean , many home owner associations do not allow wash on a line outside. They also let you know what kind of shrubs you can grow. I'd never move into one of those!
by Peter Melzer 6/16/2011 4:08:43 AM

  • @all Bye for now...
    by smoss 6/16/2011 4:09:29 AM

  • yep.. @Peter.. I live in one with protective convenants but they aren't very restrictive,,, well.. unless if you count I can't grow chickens and get eggs in my back yard.. DARN IT..
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:09:55 AM

  • @Peter Melzer in Japan almost everyone dries their clothes outside. Every house and apt. comes with a space to hang clothes to dry. This is good from an energy usage perspective, but won't those drying wet clothes also be "hot particle" magnets?
    by bo 6/16/2011 4:09:55 AM

  • @smoss later!
    by bo 6/16/2011 4:10:00 AM

  • be safe smoss.. come back soon
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:10:01 AM

  • lol @ bo...need to put filters around our clothes lines.. whewwww
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:10:34 AM

  • @bo.. you better have your boron and wheaties in the morning so you don't go critical during the day..
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:11:33 AM

  • @dean hehehehe.
    by bo 6/16/2011 4:12:21 AM

  • @bo , same in Europe, at least where I lived. Many apartment buildings use the attic for laundry drying on a shared basis.
by Peter Melzer 6/16/2011 4:12:50 AM

  • @all a visitor in my office, back in a few
    by bo 6/16/2011 4:13:49 AM

  • I have a friend that lives up in alaska and I visited to go fishing.. he told me that they were becoming minimalists... I said.. hmmm interesting.. he said.. our electric water heater is set to run every 3 days is all,, and he kept bugging me .. turn that light out... I said.. hey man I'm cooking an egg geeeeeeeeeeeesh... I got this idea.. and told him.. I bet you can go longer that 3 days on the water heater.. and I said.. I will challenge you to how long it takes to shower... .I hold the record for 72 seconds...
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:14:31 AM

  • @Peter we have the clothes line thing and use it
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:15:08 AM

  • @dean LOL Navy shower?
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:16:03 AM

  • viet nam shower @lilly.. we used to go out,, and could not get a lather up due to the monsoon ..
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:17:24 AM

  • @dean my dad was in the navy when he was younger. We all were told how inefficient long showers were. :-)
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:18:33 AM

  • ha ha..
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:19:13 AM

  • heh all.. I need to rest up some.. I'm returning back home tomorrow morning.. long drive.. be safe out there and ty all
    by dean 6/16/2011 4:19:36 AM

  • @All You may have already noticed, but there appears to be a huge boom, or something?, visible moving at first behind # 4 and now #3 on the TBS feed, but not on tepco cam.
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:19:52 AM

  • @M.I.A. is it red and white striped?
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:20:20 AM

  • Yes, It looks to be. Sorry if you already knew...
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:21:03 AM

  • Why not visiblr on tepco??
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:21:28 AM

  • @dean , what also saves money is using a superheater for hot water instead of a boiler. I only have not seen those here yet.
by Peter Melzer 6/16/2011 4:22:33 AM

  • @M.I.A. It made a brief appearance yesterday. Had a few of us really concerned because it was moving around so fast and were not sure what it was. Not sure why it isn't visible on TEPCO. Some times it was too close to the docs to be seen on the camera but I saw it in front of the tower of #1 on TBS yet nothing on TEPCO cam. A few of us have been wondering if TEPCo is putting out a live feed or not
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:23:00 AM

  • @Peter Melzer We have them here. Not as popular as big tank heaters but most of the big box stores sell them.
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:24:04 AM

  • @lillymunster , next visit I shall have a look.
by Peter Melzer 6/16/2011 4:25:40 AM

  • @all: I missed smoss but here is a translation of the video - Tokyo Metro gov. is going to measure radiation at 5cm and 1m from ground in 100 locations around the city. This video shows the first at a park in Shinjuku. They want to reassure parents in particular. The mother says she would be reassured if given detailed info. No specific readings mentioned in the video.
    by dh 6/16/2011 4:25:46 AM

  • @lillymunster It wouldn't be the first time a video was wiped. Maybe why the 30 sec. delay and missing frames? But surely should be visible on tepco given current position and size of it. just sayin'...
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:26:25 AM

  • @dh that is good news. Maybe all the individuals posting rad readings from Tokyo online pressured them into doing it properly?
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:26:35 AM

  • @M.I.A. I found it suspicious but was swamped with other things and didn't get back to looking at it. There has to be a way to document what is going on. Maybe if the TEPCO feed shows different weather or light plus side by side shots of TBS and TEPCo taken at the same time when the crane should be visible. A series of those would raise questions.
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 4:27:59 AM

  • @lilly: I think so. They say they will post the reading the next day on the Tokyo Metro website. Seems responsive to public.
    by dh 6/16/2011 4:29:57 AM

  • @lillymunster I noticed it on Hickson's side by side cams on the link posted earlier and pulled up second tabs to verify. I might be seeing some artifacts left behind on tepco on the left of #1, idk.
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:30:55 AM

  • @lillymunster btw, find this feed address to be better than the other TBS feeds news.tbs.co.jp
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:32:37 AM

  • @
M.I.A what do you mean by "boom" , explosion?
    by DT 6/16/2011 4:32:42 AM

  • @DT NO, sorry- a big construction crane. lol
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:33:24 AM

  • @all: Just to let you know. TEPCO cam site says it will not be transmitting on June 19 9 to 11am.
    by dh 6/16/2011 4:33:33 AM

  • Look at the roofline of #2. Why is there so much blurring and/or pixel jump in that area? Just looks weird to my untrained eye...
    by M.I.A. 6/16/2011 4:39:00 AM

  • There maybe a VIDEO interruption on TEPCO CAM this is translated
6 / 19 News ■ (Sunday) am - 11:09 am (tentative) between the "wipe Aichi Cam" to the construction of the power switching. When switching, some may be temporarily halted so that the video delivery, Please note.
    by Veenie 6/16/2011 4:43:18 AM

  • @all Have to go to sleep but before I do ....I don't believe the Tepco cam is even remotely live. The huge crane on TBS can't be seen from any angle on the Tepco cam and I just realized that the last earthquake I witnessed on the Tepco cam never made it to USGS..at least not at the time we supposedly saw it on the Tepco feed. Worth investigating!

  • So...with all of the talk of what's going on with the Teppycam, can I get a link, since one is inexplicably not pinned above? (Sorry for the sardonic attitude, but it's after 2 in the nmorning where I'm at, so I am in pretty rough form.) Hi again, Bo, by the way
    by wrshpr 6/16/2011 6:35:26 AM

  • @wrshpr The link is up there www.tepco.co.jp
