    by dean 6/16/2011 12:58:55 PM

  • @dean can we pin the nrc meeting if it works, and the article on the flordia NPP it seems as the SFP is not located inside the containment bld, I thought I had read this on other also.... but did not see what bld type they store in
    by fitter 6/16/2011 12:59:17 PM

  • @dean Me too!!

  • @dean I hold for one min need to type
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:11:21 PM

  • ok
    by dean 6/16/2011 1:11:32 PM

  • fitter was that comment on copyright a question to me.. I'm not really to up on the copyright laws and things.. I know we talked about it some time ago and I thought that's why we did the .org after the web page... and referenced sources etc..
    by dean 6/16/2011 1:14:44 PM

  • @dean was looking at the fort calhoon NPP, if I remember correctly from when I was looking at Surry.... there were a complete different set of "contamination" rules for inside the "boundries" of the plant vs. "rule" that went outside the property lines.... it looks like the river is inside the property lines... what conserns would you think of "with the river being on that land and washing or contaminating (sure it would be very deluted) the downstream of the flood flow?
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:14:54 PM

  • @dean just gerneral, I don't know if I am alowed to link there reports or not? they have a lot of really good articles..
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:16:21 PM

  • good point @ fitter.. typically the utility is responsible for contamination inside the facility boundaries and have to report and alert local state and NRC of any contamination, plumes etc that goes outside the boundaries and, put in place monitoring etc to track the plume... in this case the outside has encroached the boundary ,,, could be confusing however, If I were NRC I would direct Calhoun to conduct a survey map to see what/if any contamination was on the dry ground as it stands now, and then establish a reporting route in the even of water coming to the dry ground so tracking could be set up down stream

  • "At the No. 2 reactor, a hydrogen explosion damaged the pressure suppression pool. According to analysis by the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, there is a hole of about 300 square meters there." mdn.mainichi.jp
    by bo 6/16/2011 1:18:43 PM

  • @dean the report I saw (digital air ways... breaks up) this moring said the water was up to some of the buildings... (think these were auxilerly buildings. not the reactor
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:20:39 PM

  • @bo that sounds huge
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 1:21:15 PM

  • @lilly that's what I thought, no expert I
    by bo 6/16/2011 1:21:29 PM

  • @lillymunster do you know what that converts to in US meserments
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:22:04 PM

  • hello BO
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:22:23 PM

  • @fitter For info - links are for the most part fine, so don't worry about posting them. As long as the source is clearly referenced, direct quotes will be ok too. If anyone is unhappy about a potential breach of copyright, first thing they ask is for the link to be removed, and that can easily be done here.
    by es 6/16/2011 1:22:28 PM

  • @bo rough conversion would be 900sq feet, about the size of a small house.
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 1:22:35 PM

  • @lilly so it must be a typo or a misprint in the article, no?
    by bo 6/16/2011 1:23:09 PM

  • @fitter hey there!
    by bo 6/16/2011 1:23:16 PM

  • shoot. .I just walked by.. 900 sq feet.. I want to see their calculations on that one, ,and they don't even know if it's real.. hmmmmmm
    by dean 6/16/2011 1:23:51 PM

  • @lillymunster if that is the true conversion then it has to be a typo, or there are big problems
    by fitter 6/16/2011 1:23:53 PM

  • @bo @fitter well think about the holes blasted in 1 3 and 4 from hydrogen, those holes are larger than 900 sq feet.
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 1:24:45 PM

  • unit #2 took a gut shot explosion,,, wow. .900 sq feet
    by dean 6/16/2011 1:24:53 PM

  • I wish they had a way to scan underground and map that hole.

  • The BWR pool surface area is assumed to be 105.7 square meters.
    by dean 6/16/2011 1:28:23 PM

  • I thought maybe they were taking about the hole in the top of the SFP.. hmmmm... nope
    by dean 6/16/2011 1:28:56 PM

  • Well it's all Ελληνικά to me, but I figured you all could make sense of it.

  • 2 - 5 SFP surface is about 121 square meters, 1 and 6 I don't know, according to the info at allthingsnuclear. allthingsnuclear.org
(It doesn't mean atn is right, but I thought I saw similar #s elsewhere)
