Blog post on Ft. Calhoun:

@bo Very well done and well documented post. I am finding patterns in the regulatory bodies and the companies that implemented the early commercial reactor projects in the US. They were largely ignoring or lacked data related to earthquake risk. Same with flood risks back then. The small experimental reactor they ran in SD for a few years was staffed with people who had no extensive nuclear training. Many of the comments in federal reports glossed over the severity of outside factors on reactor projects. Very much a "can't happen here" mentality in the 60's and 70's.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan, June 21 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Kinki University gave portable dosimeters on Tuesday to around 1,500 children and teachers in the town of Kawamata, Fukushima Prefecture, part of which has been designated as evacuation radius in the wake of the nuclear emergency at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant.
Separately, the town government said it has decided to distribute the dosimeters to parents with children aged 4 or younger who do not attend kindergarten as well as pregnant women from July 1.
Kinki University has been cooperating with the local government in measuring radiation dosages and compiling countermeasures.

After a long phone call with tech support I have the web site issue fixed. It may take 12-24 hours for things to update everywhere and start working right. Had to update the domain record. This also completely removed "houseoffoust" from the group web site so we will not longer have things referring to my personal domain at all on the group site. Please let me know when you have success going to the www.simplyinfo.org domain. If you need to reach the site before that updates use www.houseoffoust.com/group. This will work in a pinch.

@es Glad people said something or I would not have noticed until I went to do updates later on.

@Veenie Cooper is 2.5 ft. from their flood trigger level to shut down. Where did you find that Calhoun is 3 feet from flooding? The other plant would be Calhoun. The outside areas are under water - so all their out buildings and equipment sheds are under water. The main plant building was still holding back water as of pictures from the other day. I keep seeing that big black water dam and wonder if debris floating past could puncture it.

Good to see cable news finally picking this up.
by lillymunster 6/23/2011 1:44:35 PM

@Diane_NJ Thanks! Good to see cable news waking up..

Daily news roundup added to the group site and the simplyinfo.org domain seems to be working in the US now.

@NervousinNJ People were sending their kids from Fukushima to Chiba to be safe.
by lillymunster 6/23/2011 3:01:44 PM

@NervousinNJ It may also be key in forcing the govt. to admit to contamination outside the exclusion zone and nearby cities. The illusion that radiation stays put is quickly falling apart

@Pedro Jesus Report on the first one was no tsunami damage, they eventually called that off. One report claimed no damage from the EQ.
by lillymunster 6/23/2011 3:22:01 PM

@Pedro Jesus Did you see Edano's post yesterday? He found a strong quake in April that happened and after that was when the readings for #1 drywell when crazy? It looks like something from that EQ may have done something and not just an instrument failure.
by lillymunster 6/23/2011 3:36:06 PM

@lilly today's #1 shot wasn't #1 on a level mat before the quake?
by elainekirk 6/23/2011 3:43:35 PM

by lillymunster 6/23/2011 4:13:18 PM

now I'm mixed up... Elaine Kirk or elainekirk...
by dean 6/23/2011 4:14:40 PM

I am going to try to supply input to the GOP and Democratic leaders to make nuclear power safety in the USA a talking point for the presidential elections... we need to hear from the leaders what they plan in lieu of fukushima and the flooding issues now facing us in THE USA
by dean 6/23/2011 4:16:51 PM

@dean Good idea. The cable news channels are starting to pick up Fukushima again and also Nebraska so there could be some potential to inject this into election debate.
