  • @dean hi @all Brand new, first of kind on unprecedented rad liquid, end result, after a few days, Non-detect on 2500 tons of hi level rad dirty water. This will get better. especially if they figure out the right valve lineup..LOL
    by RBeaner 6/24/2011 1:37:29 PM

  • @all.. one point, at commercial BWR plants they have simulators which they train on and the simulator engineers write different drill scenarios.. I wish we could write a scenario that closly duplicates fukushima,, then put it in a BWR simulator and let the operators go to see how they respond... "then" tell us it's ok... also in that article the NRC says that the EQ protection is good for the zone they are in .. well... the USGS recently "upped" the data which means the plants now have a built in margin of safety due to the changed data. I think that is in the wrong direction
    by dean 6/24/2011 1:37:35 PM

  • it's a great article lilly.. need to figure out how to capture it and we should save it
    by dean 6/24/2011 1:38:27 PM

  • @dean Did it get sent to you as an email from NRC? if so you can forward it to my email and I can see if I can back track and find a way to access on the web.
    by lillymunster 6/24/2011 1:40:52 PM

  • ok lilly
    by dean 6/24/2011 1:43:09 PM

  • @RBeaner It sounds like they are making some slow progress with the water treatment system. That TEPCO report is really detailed on a number of things.
    by lillymunster 6/24/2011 1:43:10 PM

  • sent lilly
    by dean 6/24/2011 1:44:02 PM

  • @lillymunster Slow progress yes, but these aren't simple problems to be overcome. As of now, more water is being processed than is being added, and this will get better as kinks are resolved.
    by RBeaner 6/24/2011 1:47:01 PM

  • www.aec.gov.tw @all.. I'm doing a search for documents related to "countermeasures at fukushima"
    by dean 6/24/2011 1:53:00 PM

  • www.neimagazine.com as of 6-22-11, status of countermeasures
    by dean 6/24/2011 1:55:02 PM

  • @lilly.. on that last link there are other links in the "NOTES" column which are probably already known but may be good resources for data updates
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:02:50 PM

  • @dean what kind of countermeasures?
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:13:22 PM

  • I think that countermeasures are what we would call action items @elaine,, just a different way of putting it
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:20:55 PM

  • @dean oo they do have them here you go www.google.co.uk
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:24:25 PM

  • when I read countermeasures in an earlier I got to thinking lets search on counter measures and there were links on that and produced that table. Seems as tho they have been developing countermeasures all along and have a list of them and then they were incorporated into that table.
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:24:41 PM

  • @elaine,,, that's it... now, there could be countermeasures for the fuku plants as well as over all countermeasures that will be planned/taken at the other NPP's in Japan so that should be a good word search

  • Press Release (Jun 07,2011)
Receipt of an instruction document about implementation of countermeasures against severe accidents in other nuclear power stations based on the accident in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

Today we have received from Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (NISA) an instruction
document* entitled "Instruction to implement countermeasures against
severe accidents in other nuclear power stations based on the accident
in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station in 2011". We will instruct
respond to the instruction and report to NISA the status of the
    implementation.

    *Instruction document
We have provided a Japanese press release version of the instruction
document received from NISA. However, at this time we have reserved
the right to not provide an English version due to potential
misunderstandings that may arise from an inaccurate rendering of the
    original Japanese text.

We may provide the English translation that NISA releases in our press
releases. However, in principle we would advise you to visit the NISA
website for timely and accurate information. @ elaine this is an example from one of your links

  • The blogger did a cut and paste of the NRC letter Dean mentioned this morning. I will try to do the same on our site (copy the text ). NRC doesn't seem to have the letter on their website yet. michelekearneynuclearwire.blogspot.com
    by lillymunster 6/24/2011 2:29:13 PM

  • www.tepco.co.jp good one too... so, I think they have these for the major areas of attention at fuku
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:30:49 PM

  • @dean nisa.meti nuclear countermeasures www.google.co.uk

  • It is great to see the temporary water storage research piece on www.simplyinfo.org .Thank you for all you do on this side!

  • @Mid Valley two sides make a whole great combined effort

  • @dean and these are the JNES countermeasures www.google.co.uk
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:35:35 PM

  • I copied the NRC letter and posted it on SimplyInfo.org. Here is the short link to the letter. wp.me

  • Have to run. Will check in later today.

  • be safe Lilly... but get back
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:38:31 PM

  • @lillymunster translate.google.com whats this is it factual!!!
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:38:57 PM

  • @elaine... I think things could be complicated to boil down on countermeasures because TEPCO probably has some,,, TEPCO interface with regulators have some, ,the govt has some,,,,
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:39:18 PM

  • @dean left hand doesnt know what theright hand is doing
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:40:07 PM

  • @elaine,,, I would say CNN-JAPAN is trying to take the ease off japan and pointing to problems in USA.. but I hope CNN-USA gets the big picture..
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:41:24 PM

  • what's really interesting @ lilly is they get all parties involved on a televised interview and each talks from "THEIR" OWN countermeasure list... and then then look at each other.. HUH
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:43:39 PM

  • @ ELAINE.. whewwwwwwwwwwfff... check this out,, an 858 page operational status of japanese reactors... it's cool you can turn the pages with your cursor... "aint technoloby grand?"
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:46:14 PM

  • @dean link?
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:48:52 PM

  • by dean 6/24/2011 2:52:22 PM

  • I need more coffee @ elaine.. and ,, I need to get my body out for the training ride today... race in the morning at 9:30
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:52:51 PM

  • @dean I will make coffe you get ready for training
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 2:57:24 PM

  • @dean Ya know, I bet one of those aqua dams hold a whole buttload of water. Would make nice temp storage, at least for lower level stuff. On the NRC response letter, the only part that I didn't like (seemed like a snide, snarky remark) was "and making claims about the plants’ ability to withstand severe natural events."
    by RBeaner 6/24/2011 2:57:24 PM

  • exactly RBeaner,,, imagine how many definitions there are of "severe natural events" with all the qualifiers attached.. 1/100 years, 1/100000 years, probability low etc.. .
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:58:38 PM

  • I need to get out,,, will return .. nice talking to all
    by dean 6/24/2011 2:58:47 PM

  • @RBeaner it galls me to think that every word in the letter will have been carefully scrutinised at great cost by lawyers with the only aim being to ensure no liability on the part of the nrc -
    by elainekirk 6/24/2011 3:04:45 PM

  • @elainekirk Can you check FB message please ?
