by Elaine Kirk 6/29/2011 12:34:59 PM

  • @Thunder I have not found it myself.
    by lillymunster 6/29/2011 12:35:03 PM

  • @Dean...actually it won't!:-) Sorry....it's because they won't tell you the data, but if data is collected in a country then that data belongs to that country, they all communicate the data back and forth and I highly doubt they would release another countrys readings but if a citizen asks for disclosure from the appropriate government agency....well then....trust me it works!
    by Thunder 6/29/2011 12:35:43 PM

  • @Thunder I think a few countries released their areas data because they felt like doing so. It seems to be a country to country thing and they can only release domestic info?
    by lillymunster 6/29/2011 12:39:19 PM

  • @Elaine Kirk Sounds like US politics, the only thing missing is some inappropriate tweets or pictures they can't put on TV. :-)
    by lillymunster 6/29/2011 12:40:22 PM

  • There was a story a couple weeks ago about scientists begging the CTBTO to release isotope data, how radiation has reached the southern hemisphere.

  • @All I ask because I (by myself) managed to get my government to release to me the xe-133 figures for the NG detector at Darwin, if I can.....ANYONE can!
    by Thunder 6/29/2011 12:44:01 PM

  • @Thunder Wow what do the figures look like?
    by Bobby1 6/29/2011 12:45:40 PM

  • This poster says that solar proton bombardment of xe-133 in the high atmosphere can create radioactive iodine isotopes: pissinontheroses.blogspot.com I have been looking for evidence of this, however the radioactive smoke from the wildfires lately makes it impossible to tell.
    by Bobby1 6/29/2011 12:58:05 PM

  • @Lilly here(Australia) it's ASNO, ARPANSA runs the testing and stations and probably recives the data, the CTBTO distirbutes it to Universities and things too...I think. ASNO are an extension of DFAT(Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), they had to ok ARPANSA to give me the data..... so maybe the State dept. US? I don't know the American system at all, do you have a Freedom of Information act?(out of interest)

  • Strengthening of nuclear safety more important than TEPCO's 'internal company logic' mdn.mainichi.jp "now is the time to rebuild TEPCO corporate culture, doing away with the prioritization of parochial interests and inculcating the tools to create a thorough safety management system."

  • TEPCO resumes circulation of cleaned water into crippled reactors mdn.mainichi.jp "In another development concerning the complex, TEPCO decided Tuesday to inject nitrogen into the No. 2 unit's containment vessel to prevent a hydrogen explosion....The utility began nitrogen injection for the No. 1 unit from April, but for the No. 3 unit, there is no prospect for doing so due to stalled preparation work within the building."
    by Markfm 6/29/2011 1:07:40 PM

  • The hottest running unit (#3) is the one they can't do nitrogen injection on.
    by Markfm 6/29/2011 1:08:47 PM

  • @Markfm what is your opinion on #3?
by Elaine Kirk 6/29/2011 1:09:52 PM

  • @Markfm the 34 Sv/hr, is that a normal range for 1?
    by lillymunster 6/29/2011 1:10:03 PM

  • @Elaine thanks! I was getting lonely there, I do my stuff now and again, I wish to next hit the Food Standards people to widen testing to all of Japan and to include more isotopes, I don't like my chances! I am on twitter too act_4_australia, I am only around a few nights a week now though! @ Lilly that you would but it should definately fall under freedom of information, I am just glad that my Gov. didn't push me that far to actually have to do a FOI application! I don't doubt yours will! good luck and anyone who is out side of USA and if your country has a Radio Testing station then you should definately try to push for the data(once you find the appropriate agency) Oh and before I go, from Australia, news of lost jobs due to the EQ and Tsunami causing lower demand! www.couriermail.com.au
@All goodnight! Stay safe and well!:-)

The Fukushima worker's tweets (He drove across the JP mainland today to get his first whole body radiation count. The round-trip was 700km.)
"I am sooo tired today, driving 700km for 7hrs to go to Kashiwazaki, and the whole body radiation counting took only for 1 minute."
"My result was 800cpm (count per minute), while cutoff is 1500cpm. No problem. Thank you so much for all your caring!"
