@Thunder thank you thunder good to hear that there probably wont be a load more radiation washed into the ocean
by elainekirk 7/30/2011 5:04:09 PM

@Thunder there is a green party in US ? (i don't know if you are UK or US)
by Edano 7/30/2011 5:22:28 PM

@Thunder ah, i missed that :)
by Edano 7/30/2011 5:29:25 PM

@Thunder I am not sure of paper production in Japan, I hope the region isn't home to paper foresting. Very good point, the radiation would likely follow along the process.
by lillymunster 7/30/2011 5:29:34 PM

@Thunder the time has passed for me I used to order lots online but now I go shops so I can check the country of origin ! if it isnt obviously stated
by elainekirk 7/30/2011 5:30:59 PM

@lillymunster I believe there is a cardboard production unit that was one of the first businesses to reopen they were in the media
by elainekirk 7/30/2011 5:32:12 PM

what we learn from this is that proper evacuation is not only important for the local population, it also affects the entire country by preventing the spread of radiation !
by Edano 7/30/2011 5:32:16 PM

so even the people far away from a disaster should insist on an adequate evacuation.
by Edano 7/30/2011 5:34:23 PM

evacuations should be broad and fast - like in chernobyl. if they can return fast - the better. but i fear what we see now is iaea's (icrp's) global evac policy to protect the nuke industry.
by Edano 7/30/2011 5:42:57 PM

@Edano the end result we are seeing is a massively complicated situation made worse by the initial denials and lack of evacuations or food restrictions.
by lillymunster 7/30/2011 5:48:29 PM

i just looked up evac scenarios in germany. there are three stages: 2, 25 and 100 km. will look deeper.
by Edano 7/30/2011 5:49:20 PM

"germany is not prepared for a disaster like in fukushima. necessary evacuations are not possible due to density of poulation."
www.spiegel.de very interesting article (in german)
by Edano 7/30/2011 6:00:08 PM

@Thunder Same would go for many areas of the US. Omaha, Minneapolis, New York City. Many of these old power plants are now on the edge of large cities that would be impossible to evacuate.
by lillymunster 7/30/2011 6:08:49 PM

we would expect pure chaos !
by Edano 7/30/2011 6:09:39 PM

100 mSv in 7 days => evacuation
100 mSv/year => permanent relocation
all costs has to pay the nuke owner.
dip21.bundestag.deby Edano 7/30/2011 6:27:24 PM

that's not better than in japan.
by Edano 7/30/2011 6:29:08 PM

i bet these numbers are the same all over the world.
by Edano 7/30/2011 6:31:49 PM
