  • @Cryptococcus Yeah, the links to the Chengdu fire all seem to be from the May 20 incident. The initial link elaine posted suggested that it may be a [new] hospital fire?

  • Just a procedure question. When we leave after posting, do you want to know? I would think that would be too tedious. But I don't want to seem impolite. thx all! going off
    by Cryptococcus 8/21/2011 10:39:22 PM

  • @Cryptococcus Some think it's tedious, some don't. Do exactly as you like, no-one will be offended. Bye.

  • @Cryptococcus see you soon I hope ty for your input

  • @Edano
that last quake 4.5 (and 4.7 ~20min later) were both on land
on emsc-csem.org they also have a wrong 'location title' but the map shows different
    I posted them here www.scribblelive.com

    @Cryptococcus bye
    by Vivre 8/21/2011 10:48:06 PM

  • Hi, good morning! Is that really a fire at nuke plant? I need to start working, but I wanted to know... There is no news in JP.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 10:48:59 PM

  • @ikrockhopper we think it is at the Foxconn factory instead. Trying to double check
    by lillymunster 8/21/2011 10:53:28 PM

  • As for Spiegel's interview with Yamashita, I haven't seen any rage on Twitter (just me...). Japan's medical system is the complete hierarchical pyramid, and really hard for physicians to speak out. Yet, I don't understand why physicians and public health people do not raise their voice :( Yamashita will kill Fukushima people, especially kids.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 10:54:17 PM

  • @lillymunster Oh, thank you!

  • @Maji -
and Kazuma Obara website is here: kazumaobara.com

  • Thank you Majj and Vivre. I tweeted them :)

  • @ikrockhopper The head of the radiation dept at Uni of Tokyo didn't he say something about Yamashita or just give facts and not confront him directly?
    by lillymunster 8/21/2011 11:00:34 PM

  • @lillymunster No, Kodama doesnt. He is confronting gov, but not Yamashita. Actually, my friend, tetu_no_oyome met a researcher from Kodama's center

  • @lillymunster The young guy visits daycare centers in Nagareyama city, one of the hotspots in Chiba, keeping saying the level is not dangerous.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:03:13 PM

  • @Vivre @ikrockhopper :-)))))
    by Majj 8/21/2011 11:03:34 PM

  • @lillymunster tetu_no_oyome asked lots of questions to him, but he obviously truly believe that the level in Nagareyama and all the hotspots are safe. So, Kodama seems to be doing his stuff alone.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:04:23 PM

  • In Nagareyama and surrounding area, a Geiger beeping all the time, she told me. Do you think if this is 'safe'?
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:05:17 PM

  • @Majj Hi Majj, I am glad to "see" you finally! Thank you so much for sending info! I love your 'pic.'
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:06:04 PM

  • They just need to set new alarm limits on all the Geiger counters now. Isn't that how such problems are resolved?
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:06:38 PM

  • @RadioGuy Do you mean that they should raise the limit on all the Geigers?
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:07:37 PM

  • @ikrockhopper No, I mean that's how these problems keep getting "solved" Raise the limits. No problem anymore. It's under the limit.
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:08:23 PM

  • @ikrockhopper @radioguy is mocking the government who keep raising limits
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:08:31 PM

  • Buy if new standards for accewptable radiation are set, wouldn't all new Geigers have alarms set to those standards now?
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:09:04 PM

  • Buy = but
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:09:11 PM

  • have we lost @Lilly to the new photo's of the plant ? :)
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:09:37 PM

  • @elainekirk heh...probably :)
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:09:56 PM

  • @RadioGuy I am sorry I don't understand...
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:10:16 PM

  • @ikrockhopper the geigers who sets the limit
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:10:54 PM

  • I'm sorry. We have all been shocked by the response to the Fukushima radiation where the acceptable limit is raised so that the levels are now "acceptable".
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:11:31 PM

  • @ikrockhopper I think @radioguy has a point do people know the safe limit or are they being set at some government limit that is too high
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:11:51 PM

  • @elainekirk I don't know...
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:12:10 PM

  • @elainekirk Exactly, and what of the new, post Dai-ichi, higher limits. Will alarms be adjusted to stop the consant beeping?
    by RadioGuy 8/21/2011 11:12:38 PM

  • @ikrockhopper we can ask @radioguy that is certainly worth looking into what level should they alarm at?
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:12:56 PM

  • Gatcha :) sorry, my brain is still sleeping. Geigers on sale... they have default beeping limit.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:13:10 PM

  • OK, but here is the point. the quality of geigers differ considerably.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:13:54 PM

  • @RadioGuy what figure should people be looking for them alarming at?
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:14:16 PM

  • Everyone in JP who has geiger said that Chinese one are not good (not sensitive)
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:14:25 PM

  • And, many suspect that the new cheap one which will come out in October in JP may make the sensitivity lower.
    by ikrockhopper 8/21/2011 11:15:22 PM

  • I'm grilling. :-)
    by lillymunster 8/21/2011 11:15:43 PM

  • @ikrockhopper would safecast be able to help in finding if geigers are reading correctly?
    by elainekirk 8/21/2011 11:15:44 PM

  • @elainekirk I'm not sure I know. If you're Yamashita, maybe 20/mSv/hr. ;)
