good morning

has anybody got any input re the hydrogen situation at fuku
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 9:51:08 AM

@Liz ty :)
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 10:06:46 AM

@Liz rockhopper says the workers are not happy tepco saying it won't explode because no ignition source but worker says quakes, dust etc all triggers
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 10:11:39 AM

@Liz looking at press release where should I be looking
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 10:24:34 AM

@alphaspheric thank you I saw the screenshots earlier but couldnt find the vids this is great

Massive photo dump of fukushima daiichi from tepco
www.tepco.co.jpby elainekirk 9/24/2011 11:56:27 AM

@alphaspheric nice videos. The one of unit 2 looks like steam out of the reactor well. Trying to figure out why they have the safety barrier up around the reactor well though. I thought they usually removed that when things were closed up and running.
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 11:58:25 AM

that photo dump is all 5 & 6 I cannot imagine what the same shots of 1-4 would look like
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 12:00:30 PM

did anyone delete my post ?
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:02:52 PM

It looks like the concrete plug at least on that side may be intact at unit 3. That is quite a surprise.
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:04:22 PM

@elainekirk the only good those photos have is reference of intact systems at 5 vs. damaged systems at 1-4.
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:06:27 PM

@Edano - nope just got here.
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:06:38 PM

strange. first it posted double and then it was gone.
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:08:13 PM

@Edano I have had that happen. It would then not let me post at all
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:10:12 PM

@Edano I have seen some go on org but didnt see yours on here have been busy did you post it before or after the vids?
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 12:11:51 PM

unit 5 inside pedestal
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:12:13 PM

i think it is due to bad internet connection. you see the post on your own computer only, but when it refreshes, it has not enterered the board.
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:12:55 PM

@Edano ah one of the posts on org that went was mine but I thought I saw another go could have been mistaken
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 12:15:30 PM

@lillymunster nice theory of the containment cap fart. do you think the cap is damaged ?
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:16:10 PM

i mean, it doesn't close anymore ?
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:16:38 PM

@Edano if that caps loose and tepco are trying to control hydrogen in all three reactors now it doesnt bode well
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 12:18:34 PM

the workers say tepco insist they are safe because there is no source of ignition !!
by elainekirk 9/24/2011 12:19:07 PM

then we have containment breaches at #2 and #3. #1 loses radioactive particles underground. this is still not a controlled situation.
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:22:13 PM

we developed some nice theories here: #1 corium crust breaking on quakes, #2 steam explosion ex vessel, #3 containment cap fart.
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:24:08 PM

@Edano I wonder if the cap could have reseated and then the rest of the silicon gasket failed on the 20th when pressure was lost. Or it reseated and pressure was lost elsewhere. There has to have always been a leak out the well though. We have images of both smoke and steam out 3 specific locations at 3. I am really surprised to see that reactor well cover intact but wonder if the other side is open since the concrete plug is in sections.
They talk about the annulus of the fuel gate area as a leak spot for hydrogen and the fuel pool is damaged I wonder if the blast largely went out that side?
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:24:48 PM

@Edano But the RPV's are under 100 degress, everything is great! Never mind there is likely nothing left in any of them...
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:25:55 PM

@Peter bananas for busby ! might be cheaper.
by Edano 9/24/2011 12:29:31 PM

Going through the video of 3. There is a section of the equipment pool where steam had been leaking from under the crane but lower than the reactor well. I think there might be a rupture below the concrete plug out to the side at the corner of the equipment pool. Not sure if there ever was a tight seal where the equipment pool gate is vs. the well but it seems to be an open path
by lillymunster 9/24/2011 12:35:16 PM

greetings to all,, good morning
by dean 9/24/2011 1:09:52 PM

@Peter last half you can see the curve of the well to the upper right of the green crane beam
