  • @elainekirk was this understandable ???
    by Edano 10/5/2011 11:08:11 AM

  • @Edano yes the logic had escaped me before my brain could only think plate on top gets higher but now I can see how it dropped thank you
    by elainekirk 10/5/2011 11:09:16 AM

  • yes, the plate where japan sits on, was on stress like a curved metal, with the quake it stretched to the east, getting flatter by this. so japan is now a bit broader and flatter.

Note this issue was published at roughly the same time after the reactor accident at Chernobyl as we are now after the reactor accident at Fukushima. The issue contains plenty food test results that may be of interest in Japan. I hope the text is readable in this format.

  • @Peter very cool! They are readable. The text can't be pulled out to translate though. Did they send you the scans or did you make them off a print?
    by lillymunster 10/5/2011 1:57:55 PM

  • lilly, the publisher send me hard copies of this issue, another one from that year, and some recent issues. I did not know of another way to post them here. Note on page 2, we find an elaborate assessment of whole body counts for cesium isotopes. If I were living in Japan, that would catch my eye.

    by lillymunster 10/5/2011 2:05:13 PM

  • @Peter They are still usable as is. Does your scanner have a way to save scans as a PDF?
    by lillymunster 10/5/2011 2:05:42 PM

  • The food testing results are really interesting in the way they do them. Much more useful for consumers. The food category, use by date and amount.
    by lillymunster 10/5/2011 2:15:45 PM

  • @lillymunster , the scanning software lets you pick the format you wish to safe them in. I can convert them to pdfs, just wasn't sure whether I could post that format here.
    by Peter 10/5/2011 2:21:24 PM

  • @Peter Oh duh. Yes, they need to be jpg to post here. If you have time to scan to pdf I could add those to the group web so people could translate to English or JP to fully read details. I think both would be useful since the jpg files can go into posts on the website. I think it would be useful to share those out to people in Japan so they can get a better idea how the testing in Germany worked. It is more consumer usable.

  • @dean hi! I have the NRC FOIA down to two large PDF files. It is churning on doing the final smash into one document.
    by lillymunster 10/5/2011 3:16:58 PM

  • great work lilly,,
    by dean 10/5/2011 3:17:29 PM

  • I ran into this statement when I was cruising through the FOIA...From: Mitchell, Matthew iýý
    Sent: Saturday, March 12, 2011 9:13 AM
Upon further review, it sounds like that probably had a hydrogen leak from the turbine-genertor's cooling system which allowed hydrogen to build up in the secondary containment building and be set off by a spark.
    by dean 10/5/2011 3:18:13 PM

  • @dean hmm. First I have seen of that. Is that likely?
    by lillymunster 10/5/2011 3:19:13 PM

  • I didn't give it much credence but will look on as I review the FOIA to see if anything else comes up
    by dean 10/5/2011 3:20:24 PM

  • lilly, I got the first step done. Here is the pdf of the Strahlentelex, I posted earlier: bit.ly
