    by Edano 10/8/2011 5:10:36 PM

  • I was right a few weeks ago when I said it looks like Tepco is going to try to revise their melt-through admission and now claim that the corium is actually all still in the reactors and is miraculously below boiling temp even as steam keeps coming out.

    by Ian 10/8/2011 5:11:37 PM

  • @Edano good luck, I am wondering why the stairs are pinked off in unit 2 ?

  • @elainekirk Is that water boiling in the spf pool on the first vid link you posted? I thought tepco said it was all below boiling?

  • @Edano third one down www.tepco.co.jp
    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 5:20:39 PM

  • @M.I.A. well I think we need techi to explain I wasnt even sure what we were looking at because that bit had a cover that has been blown off looking and the lifted bolts on the fastenings
    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 5:23:34 PM

  • @elainekirk I'm thinking that the piece below the top girder/beam is the refueling gate, and that the cesium stain on the wall marks the normal water level of the spf. We need Lilly to look. If anyone would know what we're looking at, she would. :)

    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 7:33:02 PM

  • @lillymunster I was wondering if the water was boiling and if the (hydraulicly) hinged piece below the beam/girder was the fuel loading gate in this vid posted by @elainekirk: www.tepco.co.jp
    by M.I.A. 10/8/2011 7:33:08 PM

  • OK. will go give it a look and see what I can pull out. I am downloading the video of the NRC meeting. Will see if I can cut the ending of the meeting out and put it on youtube.
    by lillymunster 10/8/2011 7:39:11 PM

  • @elainekirk But the one down below from Edano at 12:14 is not the same one. That's the containment cap. Look for the one at 12:00 sharp (cst)
    by M.I.A. 10/8/2011 7:39:24 PM

    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 7:42:10 PM

  • @lillymunster It's not any of those. Elaine posted one at 12:00 sharp (CST) on previous page.
    by M.I.A. 10/8/2011 7:42:16 PM

  • @M.I.A. well there is my problem! :-)
    by lillymunster 10/8/2011 7:42:34 PM

  • @M.I.A. what time are you on now mia?
    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 7:44:08 PM

  • It looks to me like there's cesium stain up the wall marks regular water level. Elaine, my current time is 2:44 (Central standard time)
    by M.I.A. 10/8/2011 7:45:05 PM

  • so 2.44hr
    ago I will go looky
    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 7:51:57 PM

  • Wow that video will make you motion sick! I downloaded it, will put it on youtube and get some still shots. I think it is the equipment pool on the other side. That shouldn't have water in it normally but there is a significant leak that comes out the side by that big rusty yellow wall gate. So that whole thing could be leaking. The water is moving, either boiling but not putting out steam of moving hard. The water injection locations are in the RPV and down lower and water into the SFP is too far away to make that water move like that
    by lillymunster 10/8/2011 7:52:27 PM

  • @M.I.A. yes that ones unit 3
    by elainekirk 10/8/2011 7:53:27 PM

  • @lillymunster Yes, I agree. The injection or leak itself is unlikely to cause such movement. It could be air, but it seems like a slow boil to me. The (cesium) stain looks like the normal water mark, maybe.
    by M.I.A. 10/8/2011 7:54:37 PM

  • @M.I.A. in the older video of unit 3 that edano posted there are some rusty stains where the steam has been leaking at a junction of the equipment pool gate and the reactor well lip. Will grab a still of that for comparison.
