@lillymunster what is this

I am getting somewhat read-able translation out of the serious accident document, the one not erroring out.
by lillymunster 10/24/2011 7:23:18 PM

@elainekirk
I am not totally sure on that TEPCO doc you just posted. It talks about data of transient recorders and then the output looks like the old school paper tape reactor data. It has time of day marks but I didn't see a date. We should get more eyes on it.
by lillymunster 10/24/2011 7:26:25 PM

@lillymunster @lillymunster it is quake data

@elainekirk Ah. One line says reactor pressure. Not sure how to interpret all of that.
by lillymunster 10/24/2011 7:31:25 PM

@lillymunster no we need the team here
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 7:35:11 PM

@lillymunster do you think we have this your search you started me on is turning up much interesting stuff
www.tepco.co.jpby elainekirk 10/24/2011 7:36:01 PM

@elainekirk are these newly released?
by lillymunster 10/24/2011 7:41:16 PM

@lillymunster no I am trying to find yours and keep finding stuff these are not press releases
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 7:44:52 PM

@lillymunster any english words strung together in yours I type into google and search
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 7:46:26 PM

@elainekirk those two documents might be data we have already seen but I am not totally sure so we should make sure everyone knows to take a look at them, maybe pin them?
by lillymunster 10/24/2011 7:54:43 PM

yes just going to shower then will pin
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 7:59:07 PM

@lillymunster what about this :)
www.tepco.co.jp now I really am going to shower early start tomoro going to england for the day lol
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 8:01:40 PM

@elainekirk I think we had those but should double check. I should add all of these to the library also.

Use Japan nuke disaster to reform mental health system: WHO
www.google.comby lillymunster 10/24/2011 10:18:41 PM

@lillymunster Another expert, Shunichi Yamashita, from Fukushima medical university, said the tragic war-time history of the Japanese had sparked greater anxiety than might have been the case elsewhere in the world.
"People in Japan are very much aware of the risks from radiation from the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, so they worry more," said Yamashita.
Yamashita, who moved from Nagasaki to Fukushima to assist in the response to the accident, said Japan needed an "unprecedented effort" to monitor the health impact of the disaster.
He is currently working on a survey of two million people.
"There are uncertainties about the risks of chronic low-dose radiation exposures for human health but there is no alternative than to take the responsibility of monitoring the health condition of people around Fukushima."

when did that eejit get elevated to expert status
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 10:32:49 PM

@elainekirk Oh I didn't catch that. I saw the previous quote from another person with the same first name and didn't catch that he has shown up yet again. Yahmashia is like a bad check. :-(
by lillymunster 10/24/2011 10:40:34 PM

@lillymunster he sure is but then so is who
by elainekirk 10/24/2011 10:42:31 PM

@elainekirk how Yamashita has a connection to the WHO just stinks of something underhanded. His being picked by a local politician or someone in Japan that knew him to head up things in Fukushima is one thing. For the WHO to pick him out of all the people in Japan who are far better qualified to talk about psychology or public health just smells bad.
Of course the whole thing hints at radiophobia again. You can't attempt to introduce a different view of psychology and declare your going to smear people with a fake diagnosis all in the same sentence.

Active faults exist under nuclear plant in Aomori: study
TOKYO, Oct. 24, Kyodo
Active faults exist under Tohoku Electric Power Co.'s Higashidori nuclear power complex in Aomori Prefecture, a study released Monday says, calling for a review of the seismic safety of the plant.
The new report by researchers including Mitsuhisa Watanabe, professor at Toyo University, may affect a decision whether to resume operations of the plant's reactor, which is currently shut down, as well as the earthquake-proof safety screening for other nuclear plants.
However, Tohoku Electric, which runs the single-reactor plant, and Tokyo Electric Power Co., which is building a new reactor in the same Higashidori complex, said the faults were shaped by the swelling of water-bearing strata and deny there are active faults that cause earthquakes under the plant site. english.kyodonews.jp

Nuclear accident could raise power cost by 0.1-1 yen per kwWh: panelTOKYO, Oct. 25, Kyodo
A future nuclear accident in Japan could raise the cost of power generation by between 0.1 and 1 yen per kilowatt-hour, a government research panel commissioned in the wake of the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant said Tuesday.
It is the first time that the country has calculated the costs that could stem from a nuclear accident. The figure equates to a rise of between 120 yen and 1,200 yen in average household electricity bills annually.
But the panel head, Tatsujiro Suzuki, acknowledged that there is ''quite a lot of uncertainty'' on the estimate depending on the projection of the amount of damage to be caused by an atomic accident.

so, an accident is cheaper than safety measures ? cool. let's mess.
