Save the children of Japan from radiation!!

Tomoi Zeimer spoke about her experience, with Yuko Tonohira. of delivering signatures from around the world, asking the Japanese Government to stop spreading the radioactive rubble, from Fukushima, to other areas of Japan....to the Japanese Consulate to the U.N., here in New York.

The nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has poisoned the air, food supply, soil and water. Small children have been tested and found to be contaminated with radiation. The Japanese Government has not evacuated these children, instead they have the raised the limits of exposure. The petition also addresses the spread of radioactive contamination. Tokyo has officially agreed to accept 500,000 tons of radioactive disaster rubble. In a matter of days the first shipment of 1,000 tons of radioactive rubble will be delivered to Tokyo to be burned and dumped into the Tokyo Bay.

The world must insist the Japanese government protect the people, not the corporation TEPCO. Two academic journal reports released this month find that the radiation fallout from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident is much bigger than that reported by the Japanese government and up to 30 times the amount stated by TEPCO.

  • Hi, just got back in. Poland is blaming Pakistan?

Let me shake my magic 8 ball.....
    Poland did the leak.
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 4:45:13 AM

  • Hi lilly. The rad leak in Europe?
    by bo 11/12/2011 4:46:23 AM

  • 1. They blame Pakistan.
    2. They just converted their research reactor to produce medical isotopes including i-131
    3. They are directly downwind from the areas admitting iodine spikes.
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 4:46:29 AM

  • Hey, I blamed Pakistan for missing my deadline. It's easy.
    by bo 11/12/2011 4:46:54 AM

  • @bo - yes. That is my random theory on the EU leak. What do you think it might be?
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 4:46:56 AM

  • Haven't looked into it enough to have an informed opinion. Just actually finished my deadline, no thanks to Pakistan.
    by bo 11/12/2011 4:47:37 AM

  • @bo Pakistan screws up everything. :-)

  • Have the levels in Europe been very high?
    by bo 11/12/2011 4:50:25 AM

  • I guess high enough to be detected.
    by bo 11/12/2011 4:50:35 AM

  • @bo a 5 hour old article from yahoo science on the EU radiation, news.yahoo.com
    by RonD 11/12/2011 4:55:34 AM

  • @bo levels have been low, only iodine 131 but they have been finding them for up to 3 weeks in Austria and Czech Republic. Denmark & Sweden had higher levels than other places. There are hints at it being a medical reactor or facility.
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 4:56:53 AM

  • @RonD and @lillymunster thanks.
    by bo 11/12/2011 4:57:55 AM

  • Bo, do you happen to know if there are any public radiation monitoring stations in Russia or the Ukraine that are online? I'm coming up empty handed.
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 5:04:43 AM

  • @lilly I don't know of any. I can ask some colleagues if they know of any, but they tend to do field work rather than crowd source oriented things. But given the nature of the governments there, it may be that there are none.
    by bo 11/12/2011 5:07:39 AM

  • @Bo - was able to find government owned stations for germany, austria, CR - but they only had old data.
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 5:08:23 AM

  • @all - someone claiming these are known cities with elevated levels. I don't know for sure, they didn't cite a source maps.google.com
    by lillymunster 11/12/2011 5:09:07 AM

  • I wouldn't be surprised for there to be some in Germany. Also, possibly Scandinavia and the UK
    by bo 11/12/2011 5:09:33 AM

  • @bo, indeed! There's been two other videos of courageous women visiting Japanese officials in the U.S. to protest the burning of nuclear contamination: in D.C. www.youtube.com and San Fran : www.youtube.com It's great that this issue mobilized people. I think Professor Busby helped with this, as some of the activists reiterate ideas on this he's expressed.
    by Ian 11/12/2011 5:10:27 AM

  • @Ian one of the cool things about all of this is how it indicates a changing public role for Japanese women, who have traditionally been held back from politics and public protests.
    by bo 11/12/2011 5:13:35 AM

  • This guy gets paid for this???

Professor Malcolm Sperrin, director of medical physics at Britain's Royal Berkshire Hospital, said any link with Fukushima was extremely unlikely.

"It is far more likely that the iodine may be as a result of excretion by patients undergoing medical treatment

Yes, all the thyroid patients in eastern Europe farted at the same time - it was epic. They ate Chipotle first. ::headdesk::
