  • @lillymunster, great write-up on Unit 4! Has anyone combed footage for when this likely cut-away was done? There are youtube channels that archive the TBS footage. I was once subbed to one but they posted such volume I got sick of it flooding my sub feed.
    by Ian 12/14/2011 3:23:21 AM

  • @Ian I dont think so. I saw someone mention Late Sept vs. Now as the time frame.

  • We can see a crane working at the cut region of Unit 4. The video title has the word Putzmeister, and "Putzmeister is a German manufacturer of concrete pumps."

    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:23:58 AM

  • @lillymunster, thanks! The data I pulled out of the 15-country study is the lowest-dose data I've ever seen correlated to illness. This is important info indeed!
    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:26:32 AM

  • @Ian it isn't the Putzmeister. They seem to have put those away. It looks like a jackhammer crane. :-)

  • @Ian Ob_Li retweeted in in Japanese. Not sure if there is a way to track all the retweets. That would be interesting.
    by lillymunster 12/14/2011 4:27:33 AM

  • Here we see the that the cut-out section is there, this is the video just prior to the video below this. I think there's a straight horizontal support beam running across the south side that's seen here and now.

  • @Ian TEPCO announced the clean off effort in late Aug or Sept?
    by lillymunster 12/14/2011 4:29:01 AM

  • @lillymunster, which makes more sense than applying concrete. We know by the video below that this section was removed sometime after Dec 7 youtube time.
    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:29:06 AM

  • @lillymunster, all I know is that Tepco handout you posted, I think that was Sept.
    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:29:48 AM

  • More exactly, the cut away probably occurred between Dec 7 and 8 youtube time, given the dates of the two before and after videos below.
    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:31:57 AM

  • @Ian I am hoping maybe they post some new in-plant photos soon, that would give a better look.
    by lillymunster 12/14/2011 4:33:03 AM

  • @lillymunster, you'd think they might have a care to head off rumors with information. Hay, notice that the top video just below from Dec 7, the south wall is missing, but the south corner columns are still intact. You don't even need to play the video to see this. This makes it clear that it's a stepwise process of removal.
    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:39:16 AM

  • @Ian correct, the end panels that used to be there are already stripped off yet the corners of the long side walls are still there but gone by the 9th
    by lillymunster 12/14/2011 4:43:02 AM

  • @lillymunster, it's surprising that nobody seems to have captured what must have been significant moments when these large pieces fell away. I suspect they'd have been tethered to large cranes so that once they were free to fall, they were instead held securely and lowered gently. All that excitement, and perhaps all the Fuku watchers missed it! Or there's a video out there with it.

  • @lillymunster, where's our researching wizard Elaine? Hope she's okay!
    by Ian 12/14/2011 4:51:39 AM

  • @Ian it depends when they did it. TbS is not clear or running 24-7. I would think there is film of some of it somewhere.

I saw her tweet something yesterday. Not sure where she got off to.
