  • all in all, this "author" connects and mixes a lot of things in a very disturbing way. either because he is a very stupid racist or because he has an agenda to influence japanese public opinion. that's what i make of it.
    by Edano 12/25/2011 7:58:55 PM

  • @Edano "the Germans are not your friends" really is his undercurrent and he uses some very racist and xenophobic imagery. Divide and conquer. We can't get people cooperating across nations. It would be inconvenient to corporate profits if people started acting together and got all protest-y
    by lillymunster 12/25/2011 8:01:17 PM

  • @lillymunster yes, divide and conquer, that's what i thought also.
    by Edano 12/25/2011 8:03:21 PM

  • i would agree that part of the germans are xenophobic, but against japanese, that would be new to me. we only know them as tourists, they are respected and admired for their technology and hard working. i never heard about japanese suffering from racistic incidents here.

Pointing out the flaws in the arguments, what was omitted and the issue that Germany's energy policy isn't an international issue unless your looking at atomic power PR

  • @Edano , the mutual cultural interest between the two nations is centuries-old. Even under Adolf marrying a Japanese person was totally condoned. Remember the powers of the axis?
    by Peter 12/25/2011 8:27:19 PM

  • We see flavors of the divide and conquer here in the US where groups try to pit people against each other over politics and cultural differences. More recently it has been discovered how much of this is funded by some deep pocketed corporate interests.

  • Could New Nuclear Reactor Have Prevented Fukushima? The first new nuclear reactor to be built in the U.S. in three decades is one step away from breaking ground. Federal regulators approved the design for the AP1000 reactor, which Westinghouse Electric Co. developed over 20 years. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission unanimously approved the design, a key certification that will be valid for 15 years.

On the day of the approval, CEO of Westinghouse Aris Candris was interviewed by ABC News Now. “Everyone has heard of what happened at the Fukushima Daiichi plant,” said Candris. “Had an AP1000 been on that site we would have got no nuclear news post-tsunami.”

  • fukunukeblog.blogspot.com Got google translate version which is bit different. One guy was bitter that he could not rush home to see if he could see his parents who were both washed away, and now it is no-entry zone, best line was "if this is hell we will have to crawl back to heaven". Sounds like some of the letters Japanese soldiers sent home when they realized they were doomed fighting the Americans towards the end of the war.
My short assessment this point is that they still have a hell of a mess to clean up, but they'll just have to get over fears and realistically do the best they can to live with the radiation that is all over their island now and hope the small numbers of radiation deaths view of Chernobyl is more accurate than the huge numbers people who appear to be pushing an agenda bigger than nuclear safety by the look of the research and history of characters like Busby and Moret. I think as long as US reactors don't have a double whammy like the earthquake tsunami, we have some time to shut down our reactors, but as long as Fukushima is a possibility, we can't afford to have that happen in the US no matter how remote the chances. The nuclear industry is fooling itself if it thinks Fukushima is only a minor setback.

  • Japan probe finds nuclear disaster response failed TOKYO (AP) — A Japanese government report has found that the response to the nuclear crisis that followed the March 11 tsunami was confused and filled with errors.

The report submitted Monday outlined a government investigation into the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. The investigation will be finished by mid-2012.

The report found workers at Tokyo Electric Power Co. were untrained to handle emergencies like the power shutdown that struck when the tsunami destroyed backup generators — setting off the world's worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl.

It also found that workers had mistakenly assumed an emergency cooling system had been working.

TEPCO 26, the inside of the containment vessel of Unit 2 nuclear power plant in Fukushima first announced examination with an endoscope and industrial. As part of the decommissioning work, including the purpose of checking the temperature and the temperature of the water trapped in the vessel. Conduct mid-January next year it plans to review implementation success at No. 1 and 3.
According to TEPCO, Unit 1-3 core melt (melt down) which occurs in Unit 2 are estimated to have dropped some of the pressure vessel to the containment of the fuel from melting. TEPCO has a hole in the wall of the containment vessel with a drill, determine the amount of trapped water in the vessel and piping conditions.
