  • NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS THREATEN DRINKING WATER FOR OVER 3.2 MILLION NEW JERSEYANS

TRENTON – The drinking water for 3,286,373 people in New Jersey could be at risk of radioactive contamination from a leak or accident at a local nuclear power plant, says a new study released today by the New Jersey Public Interest Research Group Law & Policy Center and the Environment New Jersey Research and Policy Center.

“The danger of nuclear power is too close to home. Here in New Jersey, the drinking water for over 3.2 million people is too close to an active nuclear power plant,” said Jen Kim, NJPIRG Advocate. “An accident like the one in Fukushima, Japan or a leak could spew cancer-causing radioactive waste into our drinking water.” […]

  • Hookaaaayyy The Nuclear Friends Foundation: Flamingos and a Nuclear Site
There are many sites in Mumbai, where flamingos land at the start of winter, after their breeding season in Kutch (Gujrat) ends. Poaching has posed persistent threat to them in most of these areas.

However, something unusual is happening for last few years. Flamingos are habituating new areas, where they sense poaching is not a threat. One such new habitant is a protected nuclear site, which is situated just near the sea side.

  • Fukushima: A Nuclear War without a War

The Unspoken Crisis of Worldwide Nuclear Radiation
    Michel Chossudovsky (Editor)
    INTRODUCTION

The World is at a critical crossroads. The Fukushima disaster in Japan has brought to the forefront the dangers of Worldwide nuclear radiation.

The crisis in Japan has been described as "a nuclear war without a war". In the words of renowned novelist Haruki Murakami:

"This time no one dropped a bomb on us ... We set the stage, we committed the crime with our own hands, we are destroying our own lands, and we are destroying our own lives."

Nuclear radiation --which threatens life on planet earth-- is not front page news in comparison to the most insignificant issues of public concern, including the local level crime scene or the tabloid gossip reports on Hollywood celebrities.

  • 'From what's been tweeted by a villager in Iitate-mura, Fukushima Prefecture, the thorough "decontamination" job by hand by the Self Defense Force using screw drivers scraping dirt and dead leaves achieved nothing. It's back to square one:After decontamination (part 1): About the stone pavement in front of the village office that the Self Defense Force kindly took trouble to decontaminate for us. Right after the decontamination work on December 20, the radiation level was 1.57 microsievert/hour. On December 29 it was 2.87 microsieverts/hour. On January 10, it was 3.26 microsieverts/hour. I told you so, it's no use. The gaps between the stones are filled with dead leaves [again].
He is not angry that the radiation didn't go down. He is angry that the government needlessly exposed these young SDF soldiers who are from the bases inside Fukushima to high levels of radiation.' ex-skf.blogspot.com
