Has anyone found any studies on insects in Fukushima?

Last update for unit 2 TEPCO
After that, we have observed the tendency of temperature at the upper
head of the bottom of PCV. Because we found the temperature has risen
again (approximate 66.1 °C at 11:00 pm on February 4), at 12:52 am on
February 5, we changed the water injection volume to Unit 2 reactor
through the feed water system from approx. 4.8 m3/h to approx. 5.8 m3/h
(the water injection through the reactor core spray system remains
approx. 3.8 m3/h). At this moment, the temperature indicates 67.4 °C (as
of 5:00 am on February 5). we will monitor it continuously.

@UKVal thanks! Found Bin Mori's blog. He was the person that found the radioactive spiders. Seems he has been busy

Last report on TEPCO's site is 10am Feb 5. They are missing report times
by lillymunster 2/6/2012 12:26:45 AM

Could mean Feb 5th instead of "five days"
by lillymunster 2/6/2012 12:44:59 AM

@UKVal that would fit also?
by lillymunster 2/6/2012 12:49:25 AM

no, 5 days in feb. means the same in japanese as feb 5. the latter is meant, because the temps were not that high 5 consecutive days. furthermore tepco never says ":04:00 pm". they always use the 24 hour system which must mean "16:00". so i think this is a wrong information. reading time for instruments is neither at 4:00 nor at 16:00.

@dyan hi, we heard about it this morning. Greenpeace says it is concerning. Have not seen much for data on it today.
by lillymunster 2/6/2012 12:59:24 AM

look here:
www.tepco.co.jp scroll down last line search 68.6 it says 2012/2/5 11:00 last reading. there are no other sources besides this.

If we check weather patterns vs. the location we might see rad spikes if there actually are some on EURAD
by lillymunster 2/6/2012 1:01:25 AM

5 days = 5th day. there is no difference in japan for ordinal numbers.
by Edano 2/6/2012 1:02:52 AM

i have seen no reference to tepco releases reg the 71 degrees. maybe it is a tweet ???
by Edano 2/6/2012 1:05:39 AM

@UKVal i stumbled across that number problem before.
by Edano 2/6/2012 1:06:48 AM

@dyan thanks! If you see something new on the Moscow fire please let someone know. :-)
by lillymunster 2/6/2012 1:07:50 AM

@Edano JP media is putting it up so it could have been stated at a press conference or direct to media but not put on the website. I have seen that before where TEPCO tells the media something but doesn't put it on their website

One thermometer high at Fukushima No.2 reactorThe operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says one of the thermometers in the damaged No.2 reactor has been indicating a rise in temperature.
Tokyo Electric Power Company says one of the 3 thermometers at the bottom of the reactor read 71.7 degrees Celsius as of 4 PM on Sunday, as compared to about 45 on January 27th.
The temperature rose about 25 degrees in about 10 days.
TEPCO has rearranged water pipes in a bid to cool the reactor more efficiently.
The company says 2 other thermometers, also placed at the bottom of the reactors, have been reading about 45 degrees.
TEPCO notes the injection of cooling water was partially suspended when plumbing work was conducted on January 26th.
It says the procedure may have changed the way the water circulated inside the reactor, possibly preventing the system from sufficiently cooling down the nuclear fuel.
TEPCO adds it does not know exactly why only one thermometer is showing higher temperatures.
The company plans to monitor the situation, while examining the possibility of increasing the volume of cooling water if temperatures continue to rise.
